Dying my hair again?/tips for short hair? - November 27th 2011, 01:11 AM

Well, here's my full history lol: I started dying my hair a few years ago. Originally, it was blonde and a good length and kind of straight/wavy (sometimes a little frizzy). I've dyed it around fifteen times, usually brown-ish redd-ish colors. This summertime, I thought, "Hey I want my natural color and new hair style would be fun!" So I chopped it all off and dyed it blonde. The issue is, before I chopped it off, I had a sweet set-up; It was a reddish color, long and volume-y, and all I had to do was throw mousse in it and scrunch it after I showered.

Problem 1: Blonde hair is just... not doing it for me. I don't like the way it looks very much; but if I let my natural hair grow out, it would be more of a dirty blonde color and end up being less of a hassal to maintain. Yet, I could easily dye it a comfortable brown color... is it worth it??

Problem 2: Damaaaage. What's a good brand (Yes, I'm willing to reach out to salon brands as well) for fixing damage? I don't care if it's shampoo, leave in conditioner, whatever, as long as it actually makes my hair look softer and shinier.

Problem 3: I kind of don't have volume on top, but my hair isn't perfectly straight either; I don't know how to explain it's "type", except I think it's mostly just damaged and it frizzes. I won't straighten. What's a good way to make it have volume and curl??

What color is it now? You could dye it a darker blonde so that it is more of the shade you want and closer to your natural hair color. Problem is if you dye it a medium brown color it will be harder to get to your natural color. Its easier to darken hair then lighten it.

Okay, so what I use is Garnier's 3 minute miracle, however any brand that makes a product like this will do.You just put it on your hair, leave it for 3 minutes, then rinse it out. It definitely has greatly improved my hair.
I would also invest in a split end protector, Aussie makes a good one. Put it on the ends of your hair after every shower and it prevents breakage.

A good way to add volume is to blow dry your hair upside down. If you don't blowdry your hair, then take a fine tooth come and backcomb the hair on the top of your head a bit, then add some hairspray.
