"temporary" hair dye - July 13th 2012, 05:35 AM

So at the end of May my friend and I decided to dye our hair with Manic Panic's Vampire Red. Mine turned out more purple than anything and it was pretty cool. The lady at Sally Beauty said it would last for about 4 washes and I figured it'd be out after 8 at the latest. But it's STILL THERE. My roots are normal colored but the rest of my hair is purple-brown and I'm so ready for it to be gone.

Any ideas on how to get rid of it faster?

If no one cared, I wouldn't be sitting here typing this.

Get a box of Color Oops!. It won't damage your hair, all it does is shrink the color molecules so that you can rinse it out in the shower.
Using hot water and a clarifying shampoo (its harsher so it will lift the color out better) will help as well.

And here you are living, despite it all.

My sister had the same problem. She had dyed her a small strip of hair purple using Manic Panic, and for months it was still there. At the time, she had no idea how to remove it, and eventually, had to have it cut away. I would take Nicole's suggestion though; Color Oops! is a great product for something like this.

I didn't think Manic Panic was temporary? Either way, as Nicole suggested, you could use that to get the colour out of your hair without damaging it. I used directions to dye my hair and wanted to strip it so I could redye it another colour and I used one that I imagine is similar and it went back to my natural hair colour.

If you plan on redying it though, I'd recommend washing your hair plenty of times before because if there is any still left in, it'll get rid of the colour. I dyed my purple after using it and washing it what I thought was a decent amount and eventually, I lost all the purple quicker then I should have.

Manic Panic is temporary, but for some people (especially those of us with light hair naturally who didn't use bleach before) it can last a long time in your root. I dyed by bangs blue with Raw! Color, I believe, and it lasted over a month. So I'd take Nicole's suggestion. I didn't mind mine there, but if you need it out, I'd try that.

The boxes of hair dyes have always lied to me. They always say they're temp but my hair dye is still growing out and it was 6 weeks lasting and I dyed it before New year Try whats been suggested
