Manic Panic care. - August 27th 2013, 08:07 PM

I recently discovered Manic Panic hair color and I am in love with it, I used Rock and Roll red on m y unbleached hair and it still came out rich rich red and it was beautiful. ... and them it faded. So I had a few questions for the care and upkeep of it.
1. Shampoos and conditioners that are best for it?
I currently am using Herbal Essence color me happy.
2. Best way to bleach or lighten my hair?
I have incredibly dark brown hair that hates to take color.
3. Any other upkeep advice.

I'll be switching to the Infrared by them to get a darker color next I dye as well.

The process I went through was simple and I could and should have done much more. I used two jars on my whole head, kept it in 45 minutes (my first mistake waiting such a short amount of time) and washed it out with ice cold water. Let it dry naturally.

I don't think there is a best way particularly, especially for those of use with darker hair. The bleach will damage whatever way you do it so that's why it's important to make sure your hair is in good condition before you bleach it since then the damage will show much less. Also, condition it straight after (although if you put Manic Panic on straight after I believe that's conditioning, it's been a while since I used it so correct me if I'm wrong).

There are other ways to lessen the damage too buy combining the bleach with some shampoo and bleaching it that way. It's a process called bleach bathing but it's designed to be used over time and gradually lighten the hair one or two stages each time rather than going straight from dark hair to super light hair.

If you add a little bit of the dye to your conditioner and use that everytime you condition your hair then it'll give your colour a little top up each time and reduce fading.
Using luke warm water to wash your hair in rather than hot will also reduce the amount of fading you get.

I hope this helped!
