Question Washing highlighted hair - January 1st 2015, 06:40 AM

so I got magenta highlights done last week and today was the first time I shampooed my hair. I used the color safe shampoo prescribed by the stylist. and yet when I started washing the hair, the water turned magenta for the initial few minutes. Later, the color stopped flowing the water but is it normal? The stylist said the highlights will last for 6-8 months. Will the use of shampoo (color protecting shampoo) still fade some of the color?

It's not fading the color. It's getting all the dye that didn't soak in to your hair out. It will do that for 1-2 weeks. And hair dye doesn't last 6-8 months not magenta. I use all the colors and mine are really perminate and I have to get it done every 2-3 months just like normal people do. So don't automatically think hey it will last for 6-8 months because more than likely it won't. Trust me right now my whole head is blue. I've had magenta, blue, purple, pink, green in my hair so I'm pretty experienced in this.

I had a friend whose red highlights lasted for about six months but anyway, so the shampoo/water will not result in fading or damaging the highlights in any way, right?

Thank you!
xo
