purple hair - February 2nd 2015, 08:56 PM

I had my friend dye the ends of my hair purple this weekend, and when I washed it, it faded more than I expected. I didn't bleach my hair because I'm a natural blonde, so that might be part of it. I used Adore dye, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long I should wait to dye it again. I'd be dyeing it purple again.

Hey there,

I have no idea how Adore dye works as I haven't used that brand.

I have used Manic Panic to dye my hair and Adore is a semi permanent dye as well, if I am not wrong. So more or less the same instructions will apply to both.

Make sure that your hair is porous before you dye it as that will make your hair absorb the dye nicely. You should wash your hair and dye it once it dries. When you dye your hair a few days after a hair wash, the oil in your hair keeps the hair from absorbing the dye completely. I had kept Manic Panic for 3-4 hours as it doesn't damage your hair. Apply heat if you can, that too helps with absorbing the dye properly.

I hope that this helps.

Good luck!

Semi permanent dyes fade really fast, especially with the first wash. They aren't meant to stay vibrant very long, they are meant to slowly wash out. Check the ingredients, if there isn't peroxide then you can use it again whenever you feel like.

And here you are living, despite it all.

I agree with what everyone else is saying. I have never used any of the products mentioned in the above posts, but I have tried this hair spray that sprays on a semi-permanent color onto your hair. It doesn't last long because the color lightens up after every wash.

I suggest that you try waiting until the color has completely faded. After it has completely faded, wait a couple of weeks to months to dye your hair again.
