My hair is thinning - October 25th 2015, 05:59 PM

I was going to have my hair bleached today so I went down my mother's friend's house (she's a hairdresser) and she said my hair seemed really thin. My hair's normally quite thick so I don't know why :| I didn't bleach it afterwards because I was worried my hair might snap.

Now I'm thinking about it my hair needs more ties in a hair band now. Straightening it also takes quicker.

Why is this happening? What can I do/take?

Pretty much all styling products and equipment are damaging to hair. I'm no expert, but this may be affecting your hair? Maybe try going natural for a while- give your hair a break! It may help...

That's not quite true as there are lots of products for protecting your hair against heat, keeping moisture in (leave-in moisturizers), etc. Hair thinning can be caused by diet, stress, your age. There are lots of factors that go into it really. Have you noticed a difference yourself? Hair ties could take more ties because they have been stretched out, and the straightening process may just seem quicker because you do it so often. It could be your stylist thought it seems thinner, but it's really not. Unless you're noticing a big difference yourself, I wouldn't worry too much!

And here you are living, despite it all.

It does seem thinner now It's good in the sense that it's no longer quite so thick, it used to be a pain to wash and style. I just don't want it getting any thinner :/

I have just the same problem like you, just the difference is I have thinning of my facial hair. My beards were not growing well as I love growing beards, I prefered using organic beard growth product. You can also use the organic and paraben free products for your hair. I surely felt the difference after using the natural products for my beards.

Hey there,

If you're concerned that your hair may be thinning then it could be a good idea to see your doctor, there may be a medical reason for this. Straightening your hair and colouring it can damage it, so maybe you could stop straightening it for a while to see if that helps to improve the condition of your hair. I have polycystic ovaries and I believe that could be a reason for my hair thinning, so it's good to explore all possible avenues. Maybe you if you need to use products in your hair then you could try to use mild products or children's products to avoid making it worse.

Stress causes hair to fall out. There are hair chemical products also that causes hair loss in women.
