Has anyone used bleach/pre lightener so as to put a colour ontop?
I need to find out the easiest way of doing it, I have dark brown hair. I used Garnier's pre lightening stuff, and had to apply it 3 times for like an hour before it went light ![]() I want pink in my hair

Is it streaks or full head your going for? I often use Schwarzkopf LIVE XXL 00A [blonde one] on places I'm putting my bright pink in before to ensure the colour. It is officially a dye in its own right, but it's the only thing I've found to brighten it enough for the colour to be as bright as I like.. and I'm naturally blonde anyway.

Bleach works best. Leave it in your hair for about an hour. It kills your hair though :/

As you said you could just use a pre-lightener but it takes forever and won't lighten your hair as much as bleach. Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year.

I recommend using the white-out bleach from hot topic. I always use that and it doesn't seem to damage my hair too much.

Since you have dark brown hair, it won't lighten all at once. It'll take a few applications to get it really light. (leave a few days between each time to prevent over-processing) Honestly, your best bet would be to go to a salon and have them lighten it as they usually have better/"healthier" lightener than you can buy in the store. Just don't over process it because that will cause too much damage and may break off. Also, use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners afterwards to help the damage.

I had black hair and had to bleach it two times to get it a strawberry blonde. Wasn't good for my hair. Then had bright red hair. My mom made me dye it back to black she hated it...so much for that...lol
