Talking RIBS and Tattoos - November 24th 2009, 12:38 AM

Here's the deal I'm in the market for a new tattoo and I already know which quote I want and which font it will be in. My only dilemma is the placing of the tattoo. I know ribs and any spot of the body is painful, I'm not concerned about that and I know in the end its personal opinion. But anyways my question is would a rib tattoo in your opinion look bad if the person who has it is not stick thin? What I'm trying to ask is are rib tattoos only for skinny people? Any advice/opinions would be appreciated. Also What about on the lower back but to the side. Which would look better for a quote? Thanks so much in advance. Oh and the quote if it matters is "Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground."

no i don't think rib tattoos only look good on skinny people. i think they can look better on slimmer people, but that's not to say it won't look great on someone a bit curvier. it's a personal thing.. so place it wherever you want. as for lower back.. eek, no.. i wouldn't place it there [if it were me.]

Thank you Elle for responding, I appreciate your opinion. I have taken into consideration the lower back but I have an appt tomorrow for my ribs, so I'll report back tomorrow about it.

The ribs are a huge canvas for a tattoo. If not properly placed, it can look very random to just have a quote placed on there. It really just depends on color and size, though. Let us know!

"Why isn't bull-riding (Beef NASCAR as I call it) the American sport to end all sports? It's an epic battle of the wills between a man and an angry cheeseburger; and if that doesn't typify our awesome civilization, I don't know what does."

Well I got it done tonight, the guy gave me food for thought and I decided against the ribs because its all to common so I went with my left shoulder. I will post pics as soon as I can remove the bandage. I think it looks amazing. My other tattoo isnt shit compared to this guy, so im having him touch it up.
