how much do tattoos hurt? i want a few

i really wanna get a tattoo or like...6-7? lol i heard it hurts like hell from some and that it only hurts alot for the first few min then it gets numb from others. i reaaally like tattoos i believe it makes a person intresting and gives them distinctibe indeviduality, im 15 now and my dad already said wait till im 18 but im 16 in less than six months and i want to make sure i know what im getting into i already know it has to be something i can live for the rest of my life

It all depends on the person.
And also on where abouts you are getting your tattoo.
I have them on my wrist and my shoulder and they were more like a burning pain/ anoying pain than anything.
I recently got one on the base of my spine and it hurt like hell.

My advice to you is, wait until your old enough obv, and opt for a small tattoo on the top of your arm, see how you cope with the needles and the pain so to speak, and then go from there.

Some places, even offer a numbing cream, at extra cost obv, but if you really wanted a tatt you'd pay it lol.

lol well i thought about starting out small but there are no small tattoos i want...all the one si want have meanings the only smallish one would be an avenged sevenfold death bat across the small of my back like a tramp stamp as some call it on my shoulders i have bigger plans :S

Yeah, I've been told that employers tend to dislike you if you have visible tattoos (stupid rule, i know, but yeah) so I'd suggest only getting them in places that you could hide easily.

hmm thats retarded, well i plan on playing music for the rest of my life, or being in a way self employed either i'll be a musician or some sort of writer or editor, so idk, it dont even wanna do anything that requires a super professional look like a banker or anything, i was also told that if you have facial piercings its the same is that true?

Yes, it's very true.
I'm not trying to shoot down what you're saying, but what if the music thing doesn't pan out the way you planned? If you have to get another job, you don't want to be screwed over because of piercings and tattoos.

I would like to advise you to really think about what tattoos you want. You've still got about three years until you can legally get tattoos (where I live, anyway). But definitely really think about what tattoos you want because as others have said, they can limit what jobs you can get.

You might plan to be a self-employed musician, but things don't always go to plan. And you might need to get a job you don't plan on getting, and with visable tattoos and piercings, you might find yourself in a bit of a pickle.

You might like a certain band now, but in 10 years from now you might 'grow up' and change your likes, and you'll be stuck with a big tattoo you can't get rid off.

Tattoos are a lifetime commitment, and every 10 years or so you might completely change the things you like, and you'll be stuck with your ink for life.

As for the pain, it depends on the person, and where you get the tattoo. So that's something to think about before getting tattoos. And I would advise coping with getting your first tattoo before you plan out 6.

true but the tattoos arnt to do with any bands that i want to start with other than the word SIXX but its not because of motley crue or sixx am i want it i have more faith in nikki sixx than god the other one i want first is like an angel or something with a rosery in its hands on the back of my grampas headstone i want it so he'll always be with me and that one i want on my upper shoulder it'd probablly come down just past the t-shirt sleeve could i get away with that maybe?

both of my parents have advised me that if i want a tattoo make sure its not in a very visible spot.
like peole said before, when getting a job a lot of employers dont want tattoos showing.
so if you get one on your wrist, try to make it small enough that you can cover up with a bracelet of a watch.
you MIGHT be able to get away with a small piece of your tattoo showing.. but i advise if you are going to an interview wear long sleeved so just incase it shows it won't sway your employer NOT to give you the job before.
my tech teacher says she always covers up her tattoos and piercings when going to an interview (she has to on her wrist and has a few piercing in her ears one by her eye.. i blieve she has a nose piercing also)
but after they hire her (if they do) she just shows them !

The pain of a tattoo is going to depend on how big it is and where you put it. Of course everyone has different tolerances for pain. Generally speaking, areas with a lot of bone (ankle, feet, rib cage) tend to hurt more than ones with more fat (calves, arms) and bigger tattoos are more painful.

Also, like others have said getting a visible tattoo is a really bad idea, especially at your age. I know you want to be a musician but that's not the type of career choice you can really count on having.. getting into the music business is extremely difficult. I worked at McDonalds for a few months and they wouldn't even hire people with visible tattoos.. you don't want to put yourself in a position where you are ineligible for a lot of jobs off the bat. Same goes with piercings.. luckily those are removable. But as I unfortunately learned, sometimes interviewers won't even take you seriously if you have facial piercings.. even if you swear it's not a problem for you to take them out. I took out my monroe labret & changed my nose ring to a small stud and I've found it much easier to get taken seriously .. and I'm talking like, minimum wage working at a grocery store type jobs.. let alone trying to do anything professional. There's a lot of areas of the body where you can get tattooed that it isn't a problem.. shoulders, sides, hips, rib cage, back, legs, even feet.. maybe you just need to get creative with placement. If you're dead set on getting an arm or wrist tattoo, you might want to consider getting it done in white ink. It's visible still, but doesn't stand out as much .. and if you get something small done on your wrists in white, it's a thousand times easier to cover with a bracelet or watch. I know a few people that have done that and it actually looks kind of cool. Just a suggestion.

Make sure you really think about this before you do anything rash.. tattoo removal is expensive and from what I hear, extremely painful.
