Really sore cartilage piercing. - December 30th 2010, 08:37 AM

I got the top of my left ear pierced a week ago. I have my other ear pierced twice in the same place, done with guns and pierced with studs, and they stopped hurting pretty fast ~ I was able to sleep on the first one almost the day it was done.

This one was done with a needle which I know is safer but hurt a lot more and there's a hoop in it now, and although I've been cleaning it with salt and water it's still really sore, sorer than I feel it still should be. As far as I know it doesn't seem infected, although it's still healing. I can't really touch it at all. My boyfriend got the same piercing on the same day (yes...we're cool like that..) but he seems to be having a lot less trouble with his. Is there anything I should be doing?? :/

since you just got it done it'll be sore for a while. just keep it clean and avoid sleeping on that side if you are because that will make it hurt more and take longer to heal. everyone heals differently and each piercing heals differently. even though you said you had it pierced on the other ear too. different piercing but i've had both sides of my lip pierced and one side took a lot longer to heal than the other.

Ok, thanks (: It just seems like it's a lot sorer than it should be after a week..I mean it's hurting my whole ear right now and I haven't touched it in hours..

It'll be sore for a while. You could also be noticing a big difference because it was done with a needle this time instead of the gun.
