Septum advice.. - September 24th 2011, 06:54 PM

I want to get my septum pierced, I have done for a while now but I work with food so it was a no, no. I recently discovered though that one of the staff members at work who also works with food has his pierced but he hides it, as in he turns it round so it's hidden in his nose, if that makes sense.

So, now I'm thinking I could do that, the thing is though, would I need to have it pierced x amount of time before I start messing with it like that? I work about 3 days a week, sometimes more if they give me more hours so I don't want to be fiddling with it loads and make the healing process longer.

So, anyone that has a septum or just knows this type of stuff, will I need to have it pierced for a certain amount of time before I can do that? I do have a few holidays books where I'll have the week off so I was thinking of getting it at the start to give it sometime, will I need more? Thanks x

Usually when you get it pierced they will put a retainer in to help with the healing process. They are shaped like this:

That might make it a bit hard to flip up, not to mention will probably be painful to try while it is healing.

It should be fine to flip up I know 2 people who were totally fine with flipping it up after it was pierced

It depends on you though, and depends on if it swells up or not. My piercings usually swell for a week or so, so it's hell when I want to flip them or move them.

Lol, just got mine done about three weeks ago. I can't have it at work or school so I have it flipped up 90% of my life. And I flipped it up the second day and it was fine. Funny you should mention it, cause just a few minutes ago i was flipping it down and jerked it a little. AND WOW THAT HURT. So I dunno. Mine was fine till just now. O_o
