Selling artwork/"shop" names? - September 4th 2013, 04:59 AM

Hey guys!

So I actually just realized as I went to post this, that I have another thread for the same subject basically from July 2012 in the Art forum, so I decided to post here instead in hopes of getting more than one reply..

So, I want to set up an Etsy Shop to sell drawings and paintings and such that I do, eventually. One thing I'd like to know, is if anyone on here has any experience with online shops like Etsy, and which you recommend - for ease of use, number of people who find your shop, ect.

The second thing, is how in the world did you come up with the name for it, if you do have one? I've been trying to think of a good name to use for a long time now, so I can at least start and set up a facebook page for the time being while I continue to work on my skills until I have more free time to start to sell some work..but I can't think of a suitable name. I don't really want one that has my actual name in it, I'd much rather something creative..but I'm drawing a blank. Any suggestions on how to come up with a good name would be loved...or any suggestions for a name would be great too!

Thanks for taking the time to read guys! <3

Re: Etsy Shops? - September 16th 2013, 03:46 PM

Hey there!

I've got a little bit experience with selling stuff online so I hope I can help. Etsy has a big user base so in order to make your items stand out make sure you have good quality photos of what you're selling up and on the listings page add as many tags as you can think of to increase the chances of users finding your items.

If you have a tumblr you could also advertise your Etsy shop on there since I see a lot of people doing that.

As for a name maybe just try and think of an "okay" name in the meantime since you can change the shop name at any time so if you choose one you don't like then it's not like you're stuck with it forever. If your art has a particular theme then that could help you come up with a name but if you draw anything and everything then maybe just make it something like "The Little Sketchbook". That wasn't the best example but it was the only one I could think of right now, sorry!

I don't know if this would appeal to you but if most of your stuff is drawings and paintings you could try selling prints on DeviantArt as well and they might do better on there
