Thought journal? - December 2nd 2013, 03:01 AM

I've had the idea of recording the many many thoughts (that range from what next will happen on a video game, in a book or show or whatever to what really started the universe) in a thought journal (/diary if you want to call it that, I just have a dislike for the word). I was wondering what other people thought about this idea and whether anyone thinks it would be useful to remember those thoughts (using the thought journal) or if it doesn't really matter? Also for this idea I have no intention to add dates with.

Also I have absolutely no idea where this should go so I apologize if this is in the wrong area...

I like the idea! You can go back to the more interesting thoughts later, and it seems like a fun way to keep track of thoughts and ideas.

You should try it! I personally can't do journals because I don't have the attention span But best to give it a shot before saying no!

Re: Thought journal? - December 2nd 2013, 06:31 PM

Well I thought of the idea only because of how much I seem to think and how deep I can get into it and how I always seem to forget what I was thinking about. The main problem I'm going to have here is that I'm not use to trying to record my thoughts. I do admit this way I'll at least have somewhere for my thoughts to go that can't be torn to shreds by other people not liking it. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

You should! Express your thoughts to the world, don't keep them bottled up in your brain. I'd imagine there can be an overflow of thoughts and, yeah, that wouldn't be good.

I think it's a great idea! If you want to do it, then do it That's a good enough reason.

Writing the thoughts down I can do easily enough (weather I have to learn to actually write them down when I think them doesn't matter) but the idea of "Express your thoughts to the world", no. I get many many thoughts that would be torn apart by people who just don't like my type of thinking, many people would just loooove to tear up everything I think. So the idea of ever actually saying them is probably never going to happen.

it's a great idea. And your thoughts matter, you'll be creating a space where you can freely express yourself

I guess so, well so far I have a little theme going on just because I'm using it (every time I think about how I have it I end up back on the last topic I was on...)

Re: Thought journal? - December 3rd 2013, 07:46 AM

This is actually really interesting because I just made a thought journal today, a second Tumblr account, which I use to write things I might be feeling . I think it is a good idea, mainly because it's a way for you to track how you're feeling and get it out in a healthy manner . The thing is, you can actually revisit a good thought or an idea you came up with, or delete/set fire to (LOL) some bad thoughts if they expired or caused you some distress.

I personally recommend it . The thing is though, it might take some getting used to, just writing and talking to yourself LOL, but the longer you do it, the more comfortable you get and also the less conscious you get, it just becomes natural to pick up the pen and write things down .

“At times the world may seem an unfriendly and sinister place,
But believe that there is much more good in it than bad.
All you have to do is look hard enough,
And what might seem to be a series of unfortunate events may in fact be the first steps of a journey.”

Thanks, that is reassureing. I just hope I can get use to trying to write down the thoughts that I want to (I'm going to be only writing down the thoughts that are worth writing).

This is an awesome idea! I have a thought journal I write in daily, except I date mine at the top. do whatever works for you. I think it's awesome now that you have a place to keep all of your thoughts. And I wouldn't tear up your ideas, so if you're ever interested in sharing anything, I'd totally listen!

I thinks it's a good idea. I have a thought journal and I do date mine and if I write in it more than once a day I also put the time I am writing down my thoughts...though I don't think many people do that, it's partially part of my ocd.

I think that would be neat! I used to keep something like that when I was younger, and now I'm really glad that I did because it'll be so interesting to go back and read through it later.
