Old Threads Revived - May 13th 2017, 02:53 PM

So I've been seeing a few threads that were made back at the beginning or middle of April having a new post made within the past few days. I am just wondering, should I still give advice in those threads, even if other users have already given helpful advice weeks ago? Is it still even worth it to give my two cents if the thread was made at least two weeks ago? Not really sure what to do here about that.

Of course! Your word matters and any advice, no matter how long it takes to wait for it, is worth the time. You never know, your words might bright up the poster's day again when reading it!

Are the new posts being made responses from the OP or from other users? If it's the OP, you should definitely give input and advice if you feel like you're able to, since it's possible that they're giving updates on the situation or asking for more help. If the new post is from other users, it's up to you. If the thread is still open and you can offer the OP some helpful advice, there's no reason not to provide them with that, even if other users have already given them solid input. What you have to say is important and helpful too!

Thank you for your response, Sammi. I'm just worried the user would have been concerned about it at that point in time and now it's either irrelevant or they just don't want to be reminded of it period. Examples include a bad experience with abuse or a final exam they're stressing over.

As long as the thread is open, I say go for it. Even if the problem isn't still relevant to the OP, it may be relevant to users who view it later on. Even after a thread is closed, it is still able to be viewed, and it's possible users will find the thread via search terms and the advice you post helps them as well.

And here you are living, despite it all.

I do agree with the others. I've actually seen some users go on threads from 2012 etc, so people definitely do still view them. There's been times where I've had the same situation as several years ago, so I look up my thread to see what people recommended.

Since there seems to be a consensus and there isn't much more to add in answer to your question, I'm going to go ahead and close this thread. Please feel free to PM me if you want it reopened, or you're welcome to start another thread.
