I definitely wouldn't recommend using anybody else's phone number for this. Most likely, people will not be comfortable giving out this information online because we can't be sure of what it will be used for. Perhaps you can have a look into alternative ways to verify your account that don't need a phone number?

I strongly advise against giving out your phone number or asking for anyone else's over the internet. As Everglow has said, you never know what the number will be used for, even if your intentions are harmless.

On the other hand, I do have experiences with having to provide a phone number upon creating an account. To be honest, Google is the most flexible when it comes to creating new accounts, as opposed to Hotmail and Yahoo. I think there is a waiting period* though, between creating accounts, where you won't have to give a phone number. What that is, I don't know.

But never give or ask for phone numbers online. Hope this helped!

*I am almost positive this is based on IP Address.

Hi there,

As the other responses have said, sharing phone numbers online is potentially very risky and as such is definitely not advisable. For more information about online privacy, you might like to have a look at the TeenHelp Safety Zone.

Since any phone numbers posted in this thread would have to be removed, as per our Privacy Policy, I'm going to go ahead and close this. I would encourage you to find another way to verify your account, if possible.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
