Weird man on the way to the train station - July 8th 2018, 06:11 PM

I went back to my home town to see some friends to go clubbing. I live roughly 60 to 40 minutes away now and I commute by train when I want to go and see them. I have a disability and even though it's my home town I wasn't sure how to get to the station I forgot where it was so I went up to this nice looking gentleman. He was wearing a blazer and some smart trousers. I felt like he looked like a normal person maybe on his way to work I felt I could approach him.

I walked up to the man and said hey sorry but I was wondering if I could ask you where the train station was it's this way I think isn't it? He said yeah it is I am walking that way I will show you but first I need to go and get my boxing gloves from my house as I have a big boxing match tomorrow. I said look I am going to miss my train and said I will find my own way thank you. He said mate you can go this way to it as well. I knew you could not so I carried on walking and he walked in the other direction. I was not going to go to some random mans house it's dangerous I don't know who he is he could be some kind of kidnapper. I know I am most likely jumping to conclusions.

Do you think he sounded weird from my description? I made it home fine I was going the right way! I just got anxious and didn't want to follow him I am not stupid it was in daylight as well it's not like it was pitched black or anything.

I would never go with some random person I feel quite worried about walking by myself now I am a very anxious person I know this is totally stupid and I feel because I am small people can easily over power me and hurt me I do think I am quite strong but I am not very tall and often seen as skinny and people feel they can target me so I feel very anxious when some random man wants me to walk to his house with him.

What do you make of this situation?

The situation might have been harmless; after all, let's say even if you went but if you didn't actually go into his home and insisted on staying outside, then split off at the train station, what would likely have happened? Not to mention that you're a 21 year old male from your profiles description and fully grown men are very high risk targets.

You probably could've made either choice and been safe. If you felt uncomfortable, then it's good you went with you gut and found your own way, but I don't think there was anything inherently or definitely malicious in what happened.

You can never trust people, he could have been dangerous. I think what you did was right.

Agree!! You don't know him and don't know his thoughts. I think you did everything right.
