Things to do - June 8th 2009, 11:11 PM

What do you guys do during the summer? Any hobbies, activites, games, books you read, anything like that?

I seriously need to find something to do this summer and maybe hearing what you guys do I might think it sounds cool and do it to.

Some fun ideas for those very boring days when all your friends are busy:
bake an extravagant meal for your family and serve them as if they were in a restaurant.
make a lemonade stand. seriously, it's still fun even if you don't make much.
draw funny faces on the sidewalk with chalk.
find some wild flowers around your neighborhood and make a bouquet.
have a dance party by yourself.
watch a movie you've been wanting to for a while.
if you can't think of said movie, how about watching the entire star-wars series in a dawn-till-dusk marathon?
build a fort in the living room.
dress up as your favorite superhero and act out one of their adventures.

Hope this helps =)

Re: Things to do - June 9th 2009, 02:53 PM

I have got volunteer work planned for this summer.
I am working at a British heart foundation charity shop and helping out at a hospital. It all helps towards University applications and it will stop me being bored. I have also applied for a few jobs which I am hoping to get, I really need some money.

I am going to be working over the summer as a support worker, which should be interesting and some extra money as well! I will probably be doing lots of horse riding as well because I am going to be having my horse back for the summer so that should be good :-) Also I am going on holiday

I'm trying to get work experience sorted down where my grandfolks live (other end of the country), then maybe just try and lose weight by running again. I'm not the most interesting of people

Re: Things to do - June 9th 2009, 09:53 PM

I volunteer during the summer. Since my school requires so many hours of volunteering, I try to knock out as much as I can during the summer. I mostly volunteer at my church helping out with VBS and all the other summer activities they have planned for the kids. Also at one of the local schools offering a free lunch program all summer. Defiantly keeps me busy.

Everybody falls sometimes
Gotta find the strength to rise
From the ashes and make a new beginning
Anyone can feel the ache
You think it’s more than you can take
But you're stronger, stronger than you know
Don’t you give up now
The sun will soon be shining
You gotta face the clouds
To find the silver lining

Re: Things to do - June 10th 2009, 01:02 PM

I'm working for the majority of the Summer, 9-5 Monday to Friday! I'm kind of looking forward to it, and I think working is actually pretty good during long holidays, because not only are you getting money but you also get to meet and spend time with other people. It's definitely the people that make a job!

In the [little bits!] of time when I'm not working I'm going to be visiting people from Uni, so going to stay with them for the odd weekend which will be good. I've got a couple of books that I want to read and just generally hanging out with friends and making the most of being off from uni!

- Spend time at your local library.
- Write short stories (or anything ).
- Take up a new hobby, like knitting.

Re: Things to do - June 11th 2009, 10:36 PM

on the 27th of June, my family leaves for BC, and we dont' get back till the 11th of July...so that's about 2 weeks give or take. Then the very next day we get home (mind you it's a 12 hour drive from here to BC) I leave to Sylvan lake to volunteer with girl guides canada at a provincial tent camp for a week. Then when I get back I may be volunteering for 2 more weeks at day camps for grieving kids. I have to find out about volunteer training though before I can do that, and the training would have to take place in the next 2 weeks while I"m doing final exams since I'm gone for 3 weeks in July:P
Then the last 3 weeks of august are dedicated to having no life.

Re: Things to do - June 11th 2009, 11:00 PM

When I'm bored in the summer (which isn't too often, but it happens), I go bike riding. If the bike isn't available, I use my scooter to go to my friend's house. I'm not too close with her, but she's only down the street, so what do I have to lose?

I also recommend getting the wii if you don't have it, and downloading some old games you can play on it. You buy them with points from EB games or Gamespot.

I also have a thing for cleaning and vacuuming, for some reason. Many people hate to do chores, but I get paid, and on the weekends I go to the mall with a few friends I don't see very often. Then I can go buy something new to wear the next weekend, and this keeps going on in a cycle
