American Girl Dolls, help really wanted. - October 19th 2009, 09:45 PM

So I found my old American Girl doll in my closet, I had Samantha, although she is now missing most of her clothes. I would reallllly love some help finding Samantha, Kirsten and Molly at not outrageous prices. Samantha was retired in 2008 and is hard to find for less than like, $200. Kirsten is about to be retired. If anyone has these dolls and would like to sell it to me I'd be willing to buy, I'd buy Kirsten before she's gone but I have no money and my mom wants to get stuff I'll use for my Birthday and Christmas, as opposed to something I'd save for when I have kids. Or if anyone can find them online for a better price I'd be forever grateful.

Do you still have Samantha? If you still have Samantha, you might could be able to get her fixed up through their doll hospital. However, depending on when you got her she may be worth more in whatever shape she is in. Mattel bought out the original company, the Pleasant Company. The Pleasant Company heads (check the neck, it'll tell you) are supposed to be worth more than anything Mattel will put on there.

With those dolls, all of them are probably going to be pretty expensive. If they aren't, someone doesn't know what they are selling for sure.

I'm sorry but if she's retired isn't she gonna be worth something in a couple of years? I would just consider that before you give the doll up I'm sorry but I just don't want to see someone give it away then in like five years it be worth a lot of money

They were the cool doll to have during the 90's (aka when we were all 5-7 years old) They are basically dolls that represent different time eras in American History. Each doll has a set of books to go along with the doll to give some background information on what it was like to be a girl of that time period. The books are about 1st grade level- but they are great! Quite informative. There are stores nationwide (American Girl). You can probably google search for them =]

Hope that helped!!

I think I might have found Kirsty, I have a friend who the subject came up and she has one she was going to give away...she'll try to find it. and I looked, and my doll has the original name on the back of the neck. My mom wanted me to send it to the doll hospital and see if they'd fix her better...no way now! I am not risking them changing her head.
And really, I don't want them to sell when they're worth more. I want them for my future kids, and so I have the three orignals lol
thanks for the help so far though!
