Motorbikes... - November 28th 2009, 08:40 PM

In short, how would you feel if your bf/gf got/rode a motorbike?
Would you ride pillion? (on the back)
Would you be happy with it?

Boring bit ⬇

With the rising costs of driving, even with a full time job, although not amazingly well paid and I have to pay living expenses, I still can't afford to run a car realistically. Something I've always wanted to do is ride a motorbike, even larger engined ones will get better mpg than your average car . They're SO much cheaper in every respect and I'm pretty certain for now, a few years at east it'll be my means of transport, as cool as a car would be. However when I spoke to my girlfriend she wasn't too happy. I'd never force her, but shes assured me she doesn't want to even see it, let alone ride pillion on the back)... How do you guys feel about it?? Am I alone here or if your significant other decided to get one how would you react?

I know they're not as safe and all, but I think if your buy the right gear don't drive like a maniac, and treat every other driver as one, then the odds are in your favour.

My girlfriend has said she won't stop me but shes not best pleased and would rather a car... In a way I would too, but at the same time I'd rather be able to get places and afford things when I got there

id be crazy obsessed with making sure that hes safe!
im very protective.. so i wouldnt want anything to happen to him..
i wouldnt want him speeding or doing anything dumb.. wouldnt want something materialistic or some sign of ego to get him killed..
but id still ride with him if he asked.. just to show him that i still want him to have his own "escape" or allow him to do whatever he wants...

Actually... talking about motorcycles my boyfriend has like 3
and I love it, I like it when he picks me up in it, even though my parents arn't to happy about it, but still.
I've always loved motorcycles, dunes etc.
But then again I'm weird
haha back to your question... Get whatever you want, when you are in a motorcycle you feel so free.

Interesting... I guess I don't consider her unreasonable just, you know to prejudge the whole thing completely... Freedoms a big positive too

More replies welcomeee!!!
