Questions - June 2nd 2011, 10:56 PM

I was looking through the Bugs and Suggestions forum, and I saw some references to a "panic button"...What's that? lol and I saw some guy who had a line through his name, and it said he was banned. How does one get banned from TH? Also what makes a thread worthy of report? Why do people report threads?

I'm not so great with advice. Could I interest you in a sarcastic comment instead?

The panic button is something you can turn on in your user area, basically it is an extra button at the bottom of each post (where the quote, edit and blog buttons are) which will take you to a site of your choosing (you set this up when you turn the option on). Incase a parent or someone else walks into the room and you don't want them to see you've been on teenhelp.
I have it set up to take me to a revision page, so my mother won't get mad at me for trying to get help from here.
I don't know about any of your other questions, sorry.

If someone posted something offensive someone might report that and that could get someone banned... panic button for me is set up to a game site I use loads, so if I get bored on TH it gets me to the website without having to type it, and it's handy because when I get sneeked up on by mother she only gets a glimpse of the site and its gone before she asks...

A thread worthy of report is usually where you disrespect people and intentionally post something offensive. One of the threats I've had reported was when I first came to TH (under a different username and before the Great Server Erase). I posted in the suicide/depression area a thread where I said everyone who engages in self-harm is a weakling and is a cry for attention because they feel unpopular. Needless to say, I got the thread reported because people complained. Also, in that threat, people clearly voiced their opinion how I was wrong and I pretty much said I don't give a shit what you say, you're pathetic and crying for attention, you don't even feel depressed.

I'm not sure how one gets banned from TH because I'm rather amazed (as are others who weren't afraid of saying that) I haven't been banned. I imagine you would have to start some shit with a member, have the member whine, a mod comes in, you tell the mod to go fist themselves, you start shit with other members, continue pouring shit on the same member, the same or other mods jump in but again you tell them to fist each other and themselves, etc... . Ultimately, only an admin I believe can ban you from the site, not a mod. In other words, you keep trolling the threads or chat and don't stop even when asked, in fact, you increase trolling when asked to stop.

I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

Re: Questions - June 3rd 2011, 10:12 PM

Hi

People report threads when they break the code of conduct which can be found here. So this could be for anything from being aggressive towards other users to posting weight numbers to pictures or explicit descriptions of self harm.

Users can be banned for breaking the "rules" of Teenhelp. Usually though people are only banned after multiple incidents as users can be given warnings and infractions by staff members however if the user poses a threat to teenhelp or its users then a direct ban can be given. When a user gets a certain amount of infractions then they will automatically be banned. All this information can be found in the codes of conduct which I linked you to at the beginning of my post.

I hope this helps. If you have any more questions feel free to ask me
