What the heck?

I'm well aware of the fact that there are trolls on every website. But am I the only one who's noticed the sudden surge of them around here? Usually it's every once in a while that one comes along, but it seems like lately there are new ones everywhere.

Has anyone else noticed the ridiculously increasing amount of them?

I have to disagree. I have been apart of many many forums over my lifetime, and I think this is probably the only forum that I've been apart of that hasn't had much trolling. I guess this is an agree to disagree matter, but I don't know which forums you frequent so with that being said, I'm going to allow you to have that opinion.

I guess it depend on what you call trolling, or what has been confirmed as trolling. Many users here create threads which some might assume are false or humorous, but we are not the ones to decide that.

If there is evidence that the user is trolling, he/she will be punished for doing so.

I've noticed some threads that I find it hard to believe, but then, these things can be true, so you have to act like they're true.
I've been on other forums where trolls post loads of nonsense.

It's alright saying that, but how do you know some of these people's stories aren't actually true.. ya know.

I mean, as strange as they might sound, it could be happening to them. But even so, if you don't believe it don't advise them.

Well I wouldn't anyway. It doesn't bother me though. I've seen many forums with very ridiculous stories on so..

I see a few, yeah. But compared to other websites I'm on, we don't really have a trolling problem at all. I guess the problem is that it's less easy to call trolls out here, on the off-chance that you're wrong and you end up triggering someone.

I'm not talking about people who make up stories, I'm talking about the people who come on here saying rude, useless crap to people just to be mean and bully them.

If you see any, report it to staff. They try to take care of it as soon as possible.
Maybe there is an increase as people get bored of the summer and decide to come spam here? Idk!

but i really havent seen any trolls either, but i also could be called a troll on the aspect that i sometimes come off as rude

Honestly, I know what Myss is talking about, when she talks about people saying rude things and what not.
I notice a lot of that going on too. I don't know if they are trolls, but I definitely see an increase in rude, pointless posts.

I've seen several posts that seem absurd, and I don't believe them. Nonetheless, I read them - in disbelief. But I don't reply to them. They could be true, yes. But it's highly unlikely that they are. And I'm not going to feed the trolls.

Then again, it is the internet. Anyone can be whoever they want to be, and they can make up whatever story they want.

Though, I'll agree, I've been on some sites where the trolls are much worse. It all depends on what you declare "trolling." I've been on sites where they'll literally hijack every thread. The chat I used to go to (that's now dead) was trolled daily. I don't see much of that here.

Honestly, though, I think TH is automatically a target for selfish people to take advantage. Some people have no lives, so they sit at their computer screen and make up stories, trying to get sympathy. It's sad, but true.

I know that I've made stories up in my head, but I've never actually gone on a forum and tried to get people to believe them. There were times I thought it'd be fun, but it's selfish, and I would feel bad for doing it.

Edit: Oh, I read further down and saw you're talking about rude posts. Yeah, actually, I was just reading a thread that fits that category. Once again, it's the internet, and kids have nothing better to do, I guess. What happened to going outside and playing with your friends all day? Those were the good days. I shouldn't talk. I spent the majority of my sophomore and junior year harassing people on the internet. I'm not proud of it, but I was bored and it made me feel good about myself.

I hadn't thought of that, but that sounds like a pretty plausible explanation.

I've seen a couple that seem really unlikely and I've seen some people be rude. I got a random inbox message the other day calling me names and swearing at me for things I didn't do and hadn't heard about. So that was kind of weird...

Hopefully they'll all fade out soon.
