What type of city/town do u live in? -
July 9th 2011, 05:18 AM
Sorry if there is a better place for this to be then feel free to move it.
So what type of city or town do live in? do you like it? what type of people live there? So my city is pretty big. I don't like it, all the people at school hate it too.My city is the 8th dangerous city in California, we have massive gang problems and if you wear red or blue and walk down the wrong street you can get shot. Along with the gangs comes drug dealers and fights. At school there are fights all the time. Drug dogs come to school every two weeks. We have minimum of 3 cops on campus daily. The majority of ethnicity is Mexican, minority white and everything else (not trying to be racist, just stating the facts) So in short my town is ghetto. Feel free to PM or VM me
Sh free since 11/18/11! I've been here for 1 year and counting!! |

I live in Newcastle, where Geordie Shore is set. Seriously though, we're not as bad as that show makes us out to be.
My city isn't huge, but it's not that small. It's by a river and near the sea, and mostly has decent areas, although there are a few poor areas. There are some bad crimes. Someone was stabbed at the top of my boyfriend's mother's street, and two people attacked each other at the top of his dad's street. Also, the infamous Raoul Moat was in and around Newcastle and Durham. It used to be one of the biggest industrial cities in England, so if you go on google maps you can view my city back to the 1940s because there are air images taken by German reconnaissance planes. |

I live in the suburbs around the edge of a medium sized city called Peterborough in the UK! Peterborough is one of the safest areas in the UK and I go to the best school in the city thus I have no drug experience and nobody has fights and stuff
Where I actually live, it is very safe, however houses are often robbed, this is the only crime that is heard really, although there was a murder here like 20 years ago :O I love where I live but I hate the fact that because I don't go to the local secondary school I have no friends round here

My hometown sucked. It was small and it's well known for meth labs. Kids would pass pills around in school and the teachers would just tell them to do that after school -.-
My current city is decent though. We live in a rich suburb of a large city. We aren't rich though Just lucky enough to find a cheap apartment here. Relatively safe, and we live across the street from the library, police station, post office, and some eating places as well.
So you have gray hair and you're only 26

I live in a town about an hour away from central London by public transport. It's not the best place to live, let's put it that way
I mean, there are worse places, but I'd love to move away. We have typically chavy teens and young 'adults' lurking in the park next door most nights, and usually they're just a bit loud with the football, but there have been fights of about 100 people; hands round throats and all sorts. There have been stabbings, shootings, attacks... For example, a husband killed his wife in a Peacocks shop about 2 minutes from my flat. There was a shooting don my road. I refuse to go out too late because it's scary. Apparently we have a pretty bad rating for the surrounding area too. I wants to move.

I live by the ocean in a medium sized town. I think because of its population of over 30,000 it would probably be classed as a city in America, but it's not important enough to gain city status here
![]() We do have drug and alcohol problems, and a lot of problems with hooliganism. The recession hit us hard, industries left the area, unemployment became high, and there doesn't seem to be too much light at the end of the tunnel yet. That doesn't mean I dislike where I live. There is a lot of negativity here, especially from the population, but that doesn't mean everyone sucks - I have the best friends in the world and know some great people. We have a beach, we have a massive country park, very ideal transport links, a cultured past, and some parts of town are truly beautiful. The high school I went to is ranked pretty low when it comes to all the schools in the country. It didn't stop me or others I know from achieving above the average though, so I don't even acknowledge its low ranking. There is negativity, but I look past it and see that I do love my town very much. |

I live in a small mining town - only about 6000 people in it. Little to do for teen's except drink and sex. So I feel really out of place

I live in Vancouver BC. You can say it's a melting pot as one can pretty much see every ethnicity getting along here mostly due to this city's high immigration rate (which is awesome!). I'm pretty sure some of you know, but this city has only been getting better with things like: being considered the best place to live a few years ago, hosting the olympics, and helping host the U20 FIFA world cup. Like some of you saw though, this city has a lot of rampant youth which find any excuse (ie. losing a sports match) as a reason to trash the city. Nonetheless, with the delicious restaurants here, and interaction with wildlife, I can honestly say I'm happy I'm growing up here!

I live in the small town of Wonder Lake (Soon I'll be in McHenry) and I have to say that I really hate it here.
I really hate the people too, the teens here have sex and drink all the time (Which is so not something I want to get involved in). And if you don't do those things as soon as you turn 9 or 10 (Yes, really, that young.) then you're an outcast. Oh yeah, people have recently started spray painting on random billboards and buildings. ![]() People help the people, And if you're homesick, give me your hand and I'll hold it. |

I live in a small town, we have about 3000 people in town. We have one main road, and no stop lights, and only like 2 or 3 4-way stops. We have pretty much nothing in my town, we have a church, a private mens hunting club, a car repair shop, a town hall, highway department, and a fire department. And on the very edge, like the town line is a american legion and a club. We don't have a school in the town, and there isn't a whole lot of teens or trouble in this town. Everyone knows each other, and mostly everyone is really nice. I love it.
But we are 4 or so miles outside a small city. 30,000 people I think. Not a giant city, but a good size. Has enough that we can just go to this city and get everything we need. It is also in a beautiful area, like seriously beautiful area. Most of the population is because of a huge university here, and a smaller college. So lots of college students. Also the crime rate in this area is pretty low, and it is mostly small weird stuff, parking related stuff, people doing funny yet weird things. We don't really get any of the more serious stuff, maybe like one major thing every few years. I think it is kinda weird that I actually love my area, and don't really want to leave it

I live in a small town, but it's close to one of the bigger cities in BC. It's primarily wine country here and it is just beautiful in the summertime. Unfortunately, the city we live next to is known as a 'meth town', as there's a lot of users there. :/ There's also a fair bit of violence here as well--a girl a little older than myself got her throat slit at a house party over an argument about a boy. I can't wait to leave, honestly.
"Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it." |

I live in a small town. There's nothing at all to do here. I live in what's called the "bible belt" Which basically means the town is full of churches, and they're all different branches of Christianity. Also means that certain movies don't get played at our movie theater. Most of the town is very snotty and think they're better than everybody else, t's a bit annoying.

I live in what is probably the biggest city in New Brunswick (not that that's saying much when compared to NYC etc though), I was expecting people to be horrible here, since I came from a small town and was told cities were filled with crime etc, but honestly the people here are so nice and considerate, it's actually quite refreshing

I live in a town that takes about 25 minutes to get to london by train. Recently we've been in the papers a lot for people stabbing themselves in a shop, and a bomb threat in a bank, but generally it's pretty much quiet(ish). Where I live, we've next to an entrance to a park and opposite a petrol garage so there's usually a few teenagers being loud.
It's pretty much just an average town, but is soon to be well known as the Harry Potter movies were filmed here and they're currently working on a 'harry potter museum', which is expected to receive quite a lot of visitors! http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2011/03/03...tudios-museum/ ![]() When your feet are made of stone And you're convinced that you're all alone Look at the stars, instead of the dark You'll find your heart shines like the sun |

I live just outside London, in the leafy outer suburbs.
It's nice here; there is lots of open space and parks, it's not too crowded, yet we are close to all the amenities (leisure centre, supermarkets, etc). Not everyone is a law-abiding citizen, but most people just keep their head down and get on with life. In short, I like it here.

I live in a VERY small town, called Meire Grove. I often call it a village, haha. only 149 people live here. I work in another town (about 2000 people) about 5 minutes away. I went to school in another town (about 4000 people) about 15 minutes away in the opposite direction.
The town I grew up in though only had 13 people in it. It was pretty much four houses, a pub, and a church all really close together and it was called Padua. My family was over half the population with 7 people. Haha

I live in your typical American suburb. I would say most people around here are mostly upper middle class people. Or maybe we just say that because we live next to one of the richest area codes in the country. My high school parking lot was filled with Audis and BMWs....It was kinda funny. And sad at the same time, because when a kid crashed it they'd just get a new one.
I live very close to Manhattan, so theres tons of people around. |

I live in a village outside of York. It takes 20 to 30 minutes to get into the town. I live on the edge, near to a railway line. Basically, there's houses, but there's also farms. We have a primary school, but the nearest secondary school is about 40 minutes away. The nearest college is only 10 minutes away. We have a shop, doctors, library, and the basics in the village. We're surrounded by the countryside and fields.

I live in a place that's literally one of the poorest counties in the entire US. We have the highest rate of teen pregnancies in our entire state. It's riddled with drugs and drug addicts. I don't live in town, though, I live on a farm outside it. It's quite nice.
But I love my town because we get to go on random truck drives through the country, we can go swimming in streams just about anywhere, and of course, the people are wonderful. Everyone knows everyone, pretty much. And it's beautiful and wild and fun. ![]() It takes a long time to grow an old friend. - John Leonard |

We have a population of 850,000 second largest city in my state and it's the northernmost city in Latin America. In the summer time the climate can go from 45 - 50C the hottest we've been is 62C (143F) summer 95'. There are tunnels made by Chinese people were illegal Chinese immigrants sleep, and the labyrinth of the tunnels is quite extensive. We have two well know universities in México here. Many American college kids come here to drink because the legal age here is 18 vs 21 in the USA. I would say the city is divided into many different culture divisions if you want to experience a more traditional Mexican place you go to the south the center of the city is mostly bars and clubs for young people, etc. I like it here.

The worst suburb of Indiana. Take a guess.
I used to live in pretty much the best place ever. In my backyard was a nice woodsy area, deer, coyotes, fox, rabbits, even a turkey once. It was very nice, yet 2 minutes was a wonderfully classy suburb with a huge mall 5 minutes away. About 15 minutes was the wonderful city of St. Louis, the Missouri side to be specific. No offense, but you Illinois people have kind of ruined the east side. 15 minute drive and you're seeing ball games, concerts, shopping areas, central west end, the U City Loop, multiple colleges, ext. Always something to do, whether it be the big beautiful city life of the nice peaceful country forest where you can literally still see the stars in the night. I'll be headed back for college at Maryville, same suburb, same city, just a new home. I took one of my new friends there once, since she said she always wanted to see where I was from. She said she could not believe how nice and friendly everyone was, even in the "big bad city." Now I'm living in a tiny suburb, hicks everywhere, boring people, an hour from the city, and hour from peace, absolutely no class, and absolutely no character. It's just nothing. ![]() Take me seriously. I dare you. |

I live in a suburb in Massachusetts. My population is a little more than 15,000, and there really isn't much entertainment. It can be a bit dull sometimes, but I find ways to entertain myself.

I live in a fairly small town. I think a lot of the people who live here have a fair amount of money, so it's a pretty posh area I guess. There's not a ton of really serious crime around here. Kids try to act cool and do drugs with their parents money, but not a ton beyond that.
It's a nice town to live in, but most of the stuff people want to do is in the next town over, like the movies and the mall. Connecticut is a small state though, so the next town is only about 15-20 minutes away. I eventually want to move out of Connecticut though. It's not a bad place to live, but my town is just expensive and I would love to go back and work in England. *Sigh* Someday... ![]() |

I live in a decent sized city in Ohio, right on the Ohio River. It was a pretty booming city back but has really gone down hill. We have a pro football team here and a major league baseball team, but other than that our downtown is pretty beat and was ranked in the top 20 most dangerous cities in the US. Most people where I live are conservative Catholics. I don't fit in well here, to say the least.
Its not all horrible though, there is a decent amount to do if you can get passed how old and run down everything looks. We always can find something interesting to do around here. Plus I'm really close to casinos in Indiana and... stuff?... in Kentucky. Oh, and Jerry Springer was our mayor

Re: What type of city/town do u live in? -

I used to live in a big city. I knew no one, because of its vast size. I went to to a school of 2000 people. Traffic was crap, and the city was unsafe. I did like it because I lived on the Puget Sound and there were many beautiful things about the city.
I now live in a small town 800 miles away from where I did live. I love it here because I already know everyone, there is so much to do here (hunt, fish, fireworks, etc). I also love how the land goes on for miles and miles. Ots really pretty here. Though, I dont like the weather. Its too hot, lol. ![]() I was looking for a breath of life For a little touch of heavenly light But all the choirs in my head say, no oh oh |

I live in a pretty decent sized city, nothing huge but nothing too small about 6,500 people in our town. I like it. There are some ridicoulous people. For the most part it is pretty calm though. It is nice. Now if you could see the stars for miles out it would be better.
I always wanted to live in the country. Where the population is like 230 people

I live in a quiet village. It is mainly elderly retiered people. The population is about, 750 people maybe? It's not really out in the country. It's a coastal town I suppose, not really a tourist attarction, though we get a few, and there are plenty of guest houses.
There is not a lot to do, but there is a big city nearby and a fairly large town. We can get to them on the train, and the station is in the next village. We have a library, small shopping parade (a butchers, hairdressers, barbers and convienience shop) and i suppose it is a fairly 'posh' area, but I live in a little semi The posh houses are all in a private estate and are litterally huge so when I first took my bike that way I was like O_OThere is also a mansion Just off my village (and in the middle of nowhere) well, behind the farmland ![]() There is also a big village (more of a town, but it's called a village) an hours walk away. I like where I live, we have sheep! |

I used to live in a large city on the gulf coast of Florida. I lived there for over ten years. I moved last summer. I now live in a small town located in southern Illinois. Our biggest store is Walmart. There isn't really a bunch to do for fun, but we're a tight knit population. Everyone knows everyone. Miles of corn, soy, and grass in some areas. It's lovely.
♥ I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we’ll never know most of them. But even if we don’t have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. We can still do things. And we can try to feel okay about them. My town's not SMALL, but it's not BIG. I guess that makes it medium, doesn't it? I guess the quality of schooling and the kids in it depends on the school, here. Like I go to a technical high school so they're strict and have pretty good kids for the most part. My street's not the greatest, though, and we don't have any movie theaters or bowling allies or anything. It's pretty boring here.xP

We just moved to a tiny tiny tiny town. (population is about 2,000to3,000 people.)
There is a 'down town' that consists of a hardware store, three places to eat, a few bars, and a bunch of empty buildings. There is one grocery store here, but it's tiny.. Nearest towns with big stores and clothing stores are 10 minutes to 15 minutes away depending on which direction you go. It may not seem great to every one but we love it so far.

I live in a big town/small city with a population of around 110k people.
I personally don't like it, because there aren't a variety of diverse people. There's a load of racism, but from white people ~ and very few shootings. But other than that, I like it... it can be peaceful, really. (Although we are in drought one, and that's just a little scary.) That's all I'd like to share. |
