I hereby declare July 21st as Staff Appreciation Day!
As a former staff member myself, I know what it's like. While it's awesome to serve such a great site with such awesome members, it's hard a lot of days. Sometimes there are just so many things to do, and we feel so responsible to do it ourselves despite the fact that we have our own lives to deal with. HelpLINK mentors rarely get responses from the people they help in tickets, Live Help Operators often have to deal with the feeling of not helping their callers, and Buddies work constantly to welcome new members on their walls and in the forums, when a lot of the time none of the new members even come back. (Not to mention everyone says they have the easiest job of the three!!) Not to mention the hard decisions that forum mods, chat mods, and the committees have to make.  EDIT: Congrats Avatar Editors on the big release. You guys rock extra hard. I just feel like a lot of times those awesome staffie members just aren't really appreciated. Not too many people really thank them, they just assume they have to be perfect all the time. Never make a mistake, never have a problem, always be there to help the members. Well staff members have lives too you know.  And they deserve a big. giant.THANK YOU!! We love you guys so much. =3

Even though I have grudges with several staff members and committees, I'll give an overall thank you. Some of the staff members would get a much bigger thank you and even a hug, you know who you are.

And yeah, buddying isn't the easiest. It's the most time consuming and tiring too! I love it though.

Seriously, though, I like this idea. I'd like to give a big shout-out to all my fellow staffies, and those who have been on staff in the past - you matter, you make a difference, and you're awesome.

I'm loving Staff Appreciation Day!
Being a Buddy isnt easy, but I love every minute of it! I'd just like to thank all my fellow staffies for all the hard work they put in, All those who were staff before me and inspired me to want to be on staff, Those who would love to become staff who just dont have the time (I understand what this feels like, I was in that boat up until recently). And everyone who applies, whether you get accepted or not, the fact that you want to help out, says a lot! |

Aww this is great, and might I say having held the position of HLM, LHO and Buddy in that order, Buddy is most certainly not the easiest! But I do love it all the same. But this was a great idea and thanks to all the other staff who help make this place what it is!

This thread Marissa is amazing. All staff are amazing. We are fallible which I feel can sometimes be forgotten by even each other. Being able to help others is amazing and as you can see I am slacking off right now hence the black. All you staffies are great!

I think this is a great idea. As a former LHO I know that it's not easy trying to help so many people all at once and sometimes all your hard isn't appreciated. BUT I apppreciate you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Others have already said it but I'll be the first to say it in this thread. The main staff who should be appreciated are the Project Coordinators because they are the main guys and gals in charge. They're akin to Chuck Norris, they could run the entire site by themselves, however, they want to be generous by allowing only the former, a few other members to be staff. The latter remaining staff are just off-shoots that come and go like leaves blowing in the wind.
To the staff who read this, you should be able to figure out if you're in the former or latter group of staff. Also to the staff, if you were offended by it then you completely misunderstood it and should re-read it. To the staff who understood it, then you're good. To the non-staff, *clears throat* [The Rock's voice] IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK [/end The Rock's voice, cue The Rock's eyebrow raise]. I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.
