Can the people on live help track your ip?

Maybe I'm being paramoid here, but I said sometimes I felt like I wanted to die and the guy said he was looking for something. He doesn't talk for like ten minutes then he disconnects. I'm not suicidal.

Your IP is available whenever you post or use a service like LiveHelp, but the staff are not allowed to contact the authorities on your behalf. I don't think you have anything to worry about if that was it. The operator may have lost connection for all you know.

If you let me know who it was you were talking to, I could look into it further. They may have ultimately just had an issue with internet connection and didn't get a chance to finish their thoughts.

They can see your IP, but no TeenHelp staff member is in a position to be calling or alerting authorities.

IP's can be seen, but not really used. I use it to know what country a person's in based on some cultural things, but that's about it for me. Anyway, I don't think anyone could get too much information from an IP.

It was probably an internet connection issue, it used to happen to me all the time. I highly doubt he did it on purpose and he might've been looking up something for another person or trying to figure out what to say.

Operators can see your IP, but we can't do anything with it and we can't contact anyone on your behalf.

Yeah we can, but honestly I don't even notice it most of them. Believe it or not I'm too busy trying to help the person rather then finding their Ip address.

Yes, we can see your IP.
But like others have said, we're not allowed to call anyone on your behalf. The only reason anyone would be searching your IP on Live Help is if you were a troll, or so they can help you better.
For example, some websites with help in America have a different number/email for different states so finding out which state you're in would help the operator to give you the correct information.

Like everyone else said, we can see your IP. Like Megan, I barely notice IP adresses. And I wouldn't even know what to do with one if I wanted to. Don't worry about it too much. The staff members here are hand picked carefully by the admins and other people (talent commitee). Staff members chosen are also very trusted. And definitely would not be on staff if we weren't trusted even a small fraction. IP adresses are mostly used for trolls. Which, you are clearly not. Also, we're not allowed to call anyone for you (police, hotlines, personal people, hospitals, etc). As we have no way to comfrim or deny something we hear on the internet. (Not saying you lie. Just saying, we could get in a lot of trouble if it's false. Not a chance we're willing to take.) We also aren't allowed to disclose your IP address (or anything you tell us) to anyone other than administrators and project advisors.
