Paranoid! - November 12th 2011, 06:02 PM

Hi there,

Not sure if any of you read my post a while back, long story short I was parked in a field with some friends and a cop pulled up and started talking to us and flashed his flash light around the truck box and inside the cab, in the truck box he found a home made pipe (it wasn't mine, I think someone threw it in there at a party earlier when it got busted and I told him that) so he continued to look around, nothing else to be found, he then came over to the driver side of the truck and without him even asking I opened both my door and the extended cab door so he could look around and opened my stow away compartments and what not to show I have nothing to hide.

He didn't ask for my name or anything, nor did he take down notes, he just asked everyone's last name in curiosity if he knew them before as he grew up in the town.

Anyways, he was pretty friendly, and asked us if we knew anything about the graffiti being done around the town, we didn't, and he said "well I'm a pretty fair cop, remember, I have 6 months to lay summary periphenial charges, if you hear anything about the graffiti let me know"

Anyways.. This happened around the end of August, 1st week of September..

What I'm wondering, is there any possible way of me being charged? It's been about 2 1/2 months now, if I was going to be charged wouldn't he need to take my name or date of birth or something? He confinscated the pipe, haven't heard anything since but I'm worried. Also I am a minor.

I'm pretty sure you won't get charged unless something drastic happened. Some cops (I know from experience) give you the benefit of the doubt if you seem like a good guy/gal, and will pretty much let you leave without any charges. It looks like he only took the pipe and let you leave without charge. He can't charge you behind your back as your supposed to be notified for anything you're being charged for under law so you shouldn't be worried about that. If all he took was your pipe and your last name than I can pretty much assure you you're in the clear.

If you didn't do anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about. If you're lying about this you could get yourself in deeper trouble. It's never okay to play pranks. The police won't find it as funny as you thought it was.

I'm not lying about anything! The thing is, you're responsible for anything in your vehicle, and I'm not sure if that includes my truck box but whether it was mine or not, and it was in my truck box, I'm still responsible for it. It's just up to him if he wants to hold me responsible...

Well that's the price you have to pay. If you let a friend ride passenger in your car and he stashes drugs in under the seat or whatever, you might be charged as well as him. That's just how it goes. That's why you should almost never let anyone in your car.
