The calm jar. -
November 29th 2011, 03:15 AM
![]() I saw this on Tumblr and I just had to share it with you guys. Basically, it's a jar filled with colored water and glitter. When you feel upset you shake the jar and you have to watch it until the glitter completely settles. The time it takes for that to happen is enough for you to settle down. I really think this is a great gift idea for Christmas and to help with urges. Thoughts?
"Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it." |

Definitely a good present to give to someone. Also, it's different from the usual clothes, and games people give these days. I like it!!

This is a great idea. I think it would definitely help those who are either prone to emotional outbursts or get the sudden urge to do something negative.
And so easy to make. All it takes is a jar, some water, food colouring and glitter. Thanks for sharing. ![]() ![]() |

That's a really cool idea; not something I'd heard of before. Thanks for sharing.
Nothing in the world is the way it ought to be. It's harsh, and cruel. But that's why there's us - champions. Doesn't matter where we come from, what we've done or suffered, or even if we make a difference. We live as though the world is as it should be, to show it what it can be. |

That's a really cool idea. I might try one with my little sister.
We were made to be courageous. I made one! I just used regular water and blue glitter cause that's my favorite color =3
Fun tip, if you go to Michaels and find the Martha Stewart collection, they have little baby jars of glitter. You could buy that for like, $5, empty out half the glitter into a plastic bag, and you've got one to carry with you! I did this too, just didn't get a picture. Maybe later. Also. My hair is Turquoise. Not Green. Picture kinda messes with it, every time. ![]() Sorry for the blurryness ._. ![]() Take me seriously. I dare you. |

I made one of these, and the sparkles tend to float to the top..and often they sink too quickly. Solution: mix the water and glitter with one tablespoon of white glue.
