Anyone have a sentry safe? - January 3rd 2012, 02:30 AM

I'm really curious...

How difficult is it for someone to acquire a set of keys for your model sentry safe? You would think that it should be difficult to acquire a set of keys without detailed documentation, but from what I'm reading...you only need basic information. So what I'm getting is that...your stuff is only safe from fires, but not anyone who is determined to get in because all they have to do is order a set of keys for 15 bucks. Am I right, or is there really more to it?

Sentry safes are good at protecting from fires and water, but not from someone who wants to open it even if they don't have the key. You can use a screwdriver (flat-head), small coin (dime or penny if you want a challenge), small knife and possibly even a paper clip. Alternatively, you can buy (or make) an actual lock pick set and the safe opens very easily. Most of these would leave a mark on the actual lock around the edges, except for the lock pick and paper clip. I'm sure a few good solid blows from a hammer may do the trick as well, although you may not be able to close it later on.

I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.
