Unity Day - February 8th 2012, 11:01 PM

***Febuary 29,2012***
On Febuary 29, 2012, Century High School will be elimating diversity. There will be an assembly to share our experiences.(I think there will be alot of crying) In advisory today, we all wrote something people didn't know about ourselves. If we wrote our name we volenteered to share our experiences. I willingly volenteered I am so scared to share though. Each advisory, will pick a country and make a booth. During our lunch periods, students will view the booths. This day is similar to Challage Day ,but everyone in our school will participate. If you have no clue what Challage Day is here is a link:
http://www.challengeday.org/next-step-program-teen.php
The goal of this day is to create a positive school environment to learn and grow in. I am so glad our school is doing this now. I sooo badly want a our school united as one.

What do you think of this day? Do you think it will work?

That sounds like it's going to have a HUGE impact. We had Challenge Day at my school a couple years ago and I know it changed the perspectives of everyone who is able to participate. I think it's great that everyone in your school is going to have the chance to participate in Unity Day. Good luck sharing what you wrote! Let us know how it goes.

That sounds really cool. Definitely let us know how it goes. And good luck with sharing, you're being really brave.

It sounds like something more schools should do. I've never heard of anything like it where I am.

Oh wow, I love the idea of that! We never had anything like that when I was in school which is a shame because I bet it'll really make a big impact on a lot of people Let us know how it goes!

At some point you gotta stop looking up at the sky or one of these days you'll look back down and see that you floated away, too.

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”- Marilyn Monroe

That sounds awesome!!
I've never heard of that either but it sounds like it could be very useful for everyone!
Good luck with telling your experience, that is something that takes a ton of strength and courage and I find it amazing that you can do that!!

How did Unity Day go?
Unity Day was successful!
Yes, there was crying. At our assembly 2 girls got up and said they cut. 2 said they were bullied. 1 had been in a psych ward. 1 was poor. Luch time was awesome everyone eat foods from different coutries and learned something about the country. No, I didn't get to share my experiences, but i heard 4 powerful stories. I encourage any school out there please do something like this. You don't know everyone on a personal level. Please talk to adminstrators, teachers, or guidance counselors and get this for your school. Always remember you are NEVER alone.

That sounds really great. It sounds like a lot of people had stories to tell and it was so powerful. I'm glad it was really successful!
