Thumbs up A little letter to my one-year-ago-self.. - November 3rd 2013, 10:08 PM

Dear November 2012 Bitesize,

So you just got fired and you're feeling like absolute crap. You're thinking that you're useless, you're feeling humiliated, and you feel like you'll never get another job again. The anxiety is creeping in and that black sneaky monster isn't too far behind it.

Well this is Bitesize of November 2013, and I've come from a day's shift in a job I fell into and I'm loving. I work in a huge, beautiful mazelike building. Everyone's heard of it and it's apparently haunted to feck. Big enough to get lost in and with a history so extensive it's palpable. I work with great people that make me laugh myself silly every day and who get drunk with me at the weekends and who seem to enjoy my company (including my managers!) My job is straightforward and I like the routine and interacting with customers and guess what - I use a till every day and have no problems with it! (I know you're feeling like you can never use a till again.) There's great food and it's not as close to home as the job you've just lost but it's ten minutes from college and SO much more worth it. And no 6am shifts this time round! I look forward to work every day that I have it.

So chin up my little 21-one-year old self and remember that life often brings blessings in disguise.

Yours, a happy Bitesize of November 2013.

It's really awesome that you came so far in a year! I'm so happy to hear that you got the job, I bet you'll do so well in it.

Let it come and let it be...

I'm really happy to hear you're in a better place today than you were a year ago!

You make me want to do something like this.
