finally sent in the application! - January 10th 2017, 09:14 PM

So way back in June 2016, I was referred to a community program. Wouldnt say the name because that would give away my location but it's been around for 40 years and I've heard good things about it. The person who referred me said it would be good for me to have that program as social support when I feel like things are too much at home. But when I looked more into it on their website, I found out they also help their members with employment, housing and other things. The program is for people with "severe and persistent mental illness". So in June I was seeing a different therapist than the one I'm seeing now. That previous therapist, M, he seemed against any ideas I brought up and seemed to think I shouldn't reach out for these kinds of things and would not help me with the application. When I switched to the one I have now, C, it was in November and I told him within the second session or so about this program and he was down with it and looked through the application. I told him I'd need a psychosocial summary from him and an assessment from a psychiatrist so he did the summary and booked me with the psychaitrist at the clinic. While I am thinking of switching again because I dont think we are a good match, I am grateful that he at least helped me with this application in the parts that I needed him to. December 22 was when I got the psychiatric assessment done but there were some parts that werent accurate so I told my therapist this on the 28th and he wrote a note explaining that certain parts were not accurate and said what the corrections are. Some time passed with me getting busy and not knowing how I will get food for the next few months but that was resolved so I managed to go yesterday and photocopy each of the papers (it was alot of papers between the application, the assessment, the summary etc). I messed up a little because I went to the 99 cents store and found a minela envelope but it had bubble wrap inside so I asked the lady at the cash register if that's the correct one for papers. She didnt seem to speak English that well but she said it can fit anything and I tried to ask if there's another kind because I had a feeling there was but unfortunately there was a misunderstanding along the way due to language barrier and I ended up buying that one but then when I went to the post office, they said it was going to be sent as a package so I asked the lady at the booth if there's something cheaper I can put it in and she said yes and got an envelope so I kinda wasted the bubble one because I had to rip it open after sealing it. So I got the new envelope for papers and sent it and paid for the stamps and that was it. I am a bit upset still about how I wasted money and also messed up a little on the photocopying the first few tries but I am also relieved I got it out of the way.

So everytime I get something done I sing Dora the Explorer- We Did It

That's definitely a step in the right direction, and I'm glad you were able to get the application sent off. I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

This is great to hear! I'm happy for you and I really, really hope you get approved. Let us know how it turns out!

Dora the explorer, huh? You did great, and were responsible in taking such steps. Even though buying the wrong thing than what you need is frustrating, we all do it and after all, part of being an adult is making mistakes then learning from those, right? It's okay, and in the process you got something important taken care of.

This is so great. I'm so glad that you made this step, and I hope everything works out with it. Either way, you should be proud of yourself for doing all of it.
