I told my family - June 24th 2018, 04:42 PM

Heyo, I don't get online very often (& when I do it's mostly just to complain ) but I wanted to pop in to say something positive! I told my family, all of them, that I have an eating disorder and I want help. Currently in the process of being accepted as a client at a treatment center that's nearby. They're all supportive and have accepted that I want to be in control of my own recovery and want them as support people. It's a little awkward at meal times now, but that's okay. Everything is going to get better. I'm going to be okay and I've finally taken the step that I've been terrified to take since I was thirteen!

wanderer come home
you're not too far
lay down your hurt, lay down your heart
come as you are.

Congratulations on taking that step and telling your family! It must be very helpful knowing that they are being supportive. I hope you are able to receive the treatment you need to overcome your eating disorder.

And don't worry about "complaining" on TeenHelp! You are as welcome as any other members to rant and vent about what you're going through!

Thinking of you, best of luck!

I am glad that you told your family! I know it's been something you've struggled to do for a long while. The fact that you were able to confide in them about this shows how strong and how brave you are. I think you should be quite proud of yourself. I hope that getting into treatment will be helpful. One thing that can be great about treatment is they can sometimes work with your support people to give them the tools to support you. I hope that things go well for you and that you will continue keeping us updated.
