Why Me? Here is a safe space to let it all out, where you can rant about all the bad things life throws your way. Sometimes it just helps to ask "why me?"

Angry Rant On Debating: Against People Or The Topic? - April 19th 2009, 04:40 AM

I've noticed there are many people that "anger" me. Not because of what they say to me face to face, but that I feel there is something underlying their words when they are debating. I'll answer questions about God and my beliefs and I feel as though some people are trying to get me to prove God doesn't exist... Like they are giving me questions they can't even answer. Also, when someone is typing their little post, I can usually cut through the bull and see how you really feel.

I made a thread that instructs teenhelpers to say something good about another belief, and there were actually people who posted as what seemed as a joke. They were so absorbed in themselves they couldn't even say something nice about another religion. And if they did, it was probably something that was related to their own belief.

I'm so sick of this war of belief Vs. Non-belief, if you don't believe what I do, don't ask me questions so you can try to prove I'm wrong and you're right. There are some topics where you can do this, but when it comes to believe, It's a rarity.

Does anyone else feel like this?

Geek? Nerd? More like intellectual badass.

I'm sorry people are being jerks to you, Holly. It drives me crazy when people try to prove Christianity wrong... and I'm not even a Christian. I think a lot of people get joy out of pointing those kinds of things out because they think they're better than you. But they're just being immature.
If more people just wanted to accept one another like you did, this world would be a better place.
For once I'd like to hear "I understand what you believe and respect it. This is what I think..."
Not just that, but even when I disagree with religions, I don't argue. It's just pointless. Ignore those idiots, they're a waste of energy

Let me just say. It's not just people who don't believe in God that try to convince people that God isn't real. There are a lot of Christians who try to convince people who don't believe in God that there is a God. So, while I do agree with you that it's not right, it happens with every belief, and it's not just Christians that are sometimes questioned. People are always going to have questions, and unfortunately they don't always ask them in the best of way. Everyone could use some improvement with how they ask questions or word things during any kind of debate. I'm sorry that this has been getting to you like this, though. People should follow the point of your thread, and treat others beliefs with respect. Unfortunately, you can rarely expect that to happen, no matter where you go.
