Why Me? Here is a safe space to let it all out, where you can rant about all the bad things life throws your way. Sometimes it just helps to ask "why me?"

Shouting through the phone - October 26th 2016, 02:05 PM

Here's a secret on how to get under my skin: shouting through your phone.

I can at least understand if someone is having a hard day, gets stressed out and loses their temper occasionally. That happens to me too. It usually lasts a few minutes, and it's over.

But I can't fucking understand why some people just can't talk normally, especially through the phone. They just shout. You can literally hear them from 3 fucking rooms away, with closed doors.

Judging also by how often it is usually those people who are talking (instead of listening to the other person on the phone) it really looks to me like such people like the sound of their own voice far too much. And these "conversations" usually have very little meaningful content. Literally, I was in the library and I could hear some damn woman from another room talking for 30 fucking minutes about what fish she should buy for dinner.

!!! BRUH !!!

I could have gone to the fucking supermarket in the meantime and bought it for her.

The one pissing me off now... I think she's talking about her sister's kids or something. Let's not forget, she's at fucking work as well.

This happens in the library a lot because they don't use their own cell phones, so obviously don't pay for the minutes. And there's not much for them to do either it seems. And what makes it worse is that there are regulations/notices saying "Silence in the Library"... but in Poland regulations only apply to plebs. You're allowed to do whatever you want if you work there, or have some sort of "authority" (any sort, not even anything actually important). Rules don't apply then. That's how people think anyway. In some way or other, this mentality applies in every context, and if I were to make a list of what pisses me off in Poland the most... this is either no. 1, or no. 2 on that list.

I did confront them once. They weren't talking on the phone, just each other... but again, shouting for no understandable fucking reason. The response I got was ridiculous. They all started talking at me, all at the same time. What the hell is wrong with some people. It was like middle school (highs school in America). Fucking hell. Brain damage. I don't even know what they were saying. I told myself I'd give it a 2nd attempt one day with a voice recorder ready, then send it to the library director, but never bothered.

And it's not just me anyway... I'm pretty sure this pisses off most people. Sometimes I have a long bus or train journey somewhere, and if someone starts doing that shit right next to me... I get my phone out and do the same. It actually works. Except I have trouble talking about meaningless shit for 30 minutes like what fish I'm having for dinner. But I only have to keep it up for about 2 or 3 minutes for it to work anyway. And I usually have the louder voice when I want to.

"I don't care about politics"
Then politics doesn't care about you either. Truth. You've got to make your voice heard, if you want to be listened to. But that's too logical for some people, so let me go a step further. Not making your voice heard, leaves other people free to hijack it by speaking on your behalf, even if they don't actually give a shit about you. That's politics. So, make your voice heard. That's not a quote from anywhere. That's just me.
