Unhappy Family Financial Problems - September 2nd 2011, 12:37 AM

As the title suggests, this is a problem my family have been having since my mom has become sick with god knows what disease which haves her unable to work. Her only income, for the past few years, is from the job's insurance company . But, a few months ago, they have stopped paying her. Thus, no source of income.

My step dad have been working as a concert organizer. Basically, this have been going downhill for some number of years now so now his company is in dept with a ton of money. Another source of income gone.

My dad's been working as a cameraman in Louisiana, though, it pays really horribly. He can barely pay for himself. So, at the end, the whole family is full of depts and have basically no money. We're close to losing the house and moving to a cramped apartment with the strict minimum.

I am currently in a special program (PEI, International Education) which I really want to stay in since they give 2 extra High School diplomas which will keep my options open concerning Colleges and University after Secondary 5 (11th grade?). But, if we move, I will be unable to go to that specific program because of placement and extra costs.

And I am trying to deal with that stress with no one to talk to because of social problems of mine. And, I am really stressed about school and the financial problems. Worse of all, I am pretty much helpless. Can't do a fucking thing. The only chance we have is that we win in court on the company. We're just funneling all of the bit of money we have for the Lawyer, are only hope. And I have to be caught in the fracking middle. It's like a roller coaster. And it's mostly down now-a-days.

Thank you for helping me vent, Ivegon

Hey there! It's nice to see you around the forums again, even if it's under these circumstances. I'm not sure what I can offer advice-wise, but I do want to encourage you (and your parents) to keep your heads up and press on. Something has to pan out eventually. I'm assuming you've looked into government welfare programs and charitable organizations. Keep looking, even if the chances of receiving aid seem slim, because you never know who will be willing to offer a helping hand. Good luck with the legal battle as well. Finally, you're not helpless. You may not be able to get a job while you're in school, but you can greet your parents when you see them, offer to help out around the house when you don't have homework, etc. Basically, keep their morale up, so they can continue to deal with the financial situation to the best of their abilities. =)
