Iphone update gone horribly wrong -
October 20th 2011, 04:51 AM
I decided to update my Iphone to the latest version especially since it had been slow for a while. Well as I was updating it, it said that I would lose the contents of my Iphone. I tried to back the contents up, but to no avail. I figured it would only delete the contents off my Iphone. Well, turns out it erased my SIM card as well. I had 200+ numbers in my phone that are all gone. All my messages that I had saved are gone. 1000+ pictures are gone. All my notes are gone as well. All my apps got deleted. I am pretty upset right now. :/ This is awful. I have no clue how to retrieve everything, if there even is a way.

Hi Kitty,
I'm really sorry to hear that. Do you sync your iPhone to iTunes? If you do, you should be able to plug it in and then right-click on its name and there should be the option to restore from back-up. ITunes automatically backs up your devices when they are synced, so there should be a back-up there for you. I don't know if this will work for you, but it's worth a try. Hey,
I haven't ever synced it up to the Itunes on this computer since this computer is brand new. The other one broke. I tried that, but it says it requires a password and I never created one. |

That is really strange. I've never seen it need a password before. I wish I could like come over and help you fix it, but that would be a long trip =P.
My boyfriend says that it's possible you (accidently) asked the computer to encrypt the back-up and that's why it wants a password. At this stage, I think the best thing to do is call your nearest Apple store or go in and ask them for help. Even if it is outside warranty, they'll often be able to help you free of charge. Or you could email them. Dreaming about the day When you wake up and find That what you're looking for Has been here the whole time. |

Thank you Amy.
I appreciate. I managed to get lucky and get the right password though. I am quite curious as to why it wanted me to enter one though.I appreciate your help though.
