Gotta fly out to see my dad soon - and I have a head cold!!

This seemed like the perfect place to complain to no one inparticular about my life

I have obtained an awful head cold right at about the right time of the year to get one. No complaints there, it's normal to catch colds. Here's the problem - I live in Illinois and my dad and sister live in Mississippi. They're flying me down there to visit them for Christmas. My mother has informed me time and time again that my ears will be killing me on the plane ride there. Now I'm paranoid as hell.

Also, a quick question to anyone willing to let loose their own two-sense (is that how it goes...?): Have you ever had to ride on an airplane with any sort of illness? If so, what were you sick with and did it effect your trip in any specific way?

I know you're not supposed to fly with any illness. Headcolds have a tendency to not let your ears pop, so it can be very painful I suggest using gum or something so your ears won't have to pop.

I agree with Kelly that chewing gum should help. When I was a kid, I had to go on the plane sick & that's what the doctor told me to do. You should probably try sleeping as much as possible on the plane as well. Good luck!
