I Failed a Test, but that's not whats bothering me... - January 16th 2012, 11:17 PM

I take AP Chem, and I regret that choice every second I'm in the class. I try to maintain a good grade. Sure, there are tests where I bomb them, but that's usually to my own fault because I didn't do the homework. For this new semester, I've done ALL my homework, payed attention in class, and understand the curriculum. Unlike some other Chemistry concepts, I understood this portion of the book we were talking about! My homework for this past week was all correct, so when I heard we were having a quiz this Friday, I was feeling happy. I couldn't say the same for my other classmates who were sleeping and barely did the homework. Karma was on my side

But on the day of the quiz, my teacher chose a problem that did not cover anything I learned. The procedure was totally off what was supposed to be. In short, I failed the test. I couldn't blame myself because I've truly done my best throughout the week. What really sucks is that the guys in my class who sleep and don't do their homework got full scores on their quiz! How is that fair? MAybe they are just naturally gifted or maybe I should stop giving a damn in class, and I'll probably get a high score on my quiz too.

Yeah, I definitely see how it can upset you that you've been trying so hard and still had to bomb it, but I'd say that this isn't your fault. Sometimes teachers just don't stick to the materials that they give. Is it too far into the year to change classes, or even just get some extra help every now and then just to make sure you understand what's going on? It can't hurt to double check.
