GMH Gives Me Hope - July 24th 2009, 02:15 PM

I found this site, http://www.givesmehope.com and it's pretty much like FML but for optimists . It has cute little stories about nice things that happen.

So I was thinking, 'Why not have our own lil GMH thread on TH?'

Post any kind/nice/courteous gestures that just makes you smile and feel good. This can be something that somebody did to you, or something that you witnessed happen to other people.

It's nice to know that there is hope and some happiness in this world.

we've escaped our capture

aw i love that site!!.

about a year and a half ago i left my phone on a bus. i was so pissed off with myself and assumed i'd never see it again. the next day my mum got a phone call from a man saying he was a bus driver and he'd found my phone and called the number under "mum." he drove from the other side of london on his day off to my house to give me my phone back. it made my day!

My friend's boyfriend got down on one knee and proposed to her in front of her family and friends on her graduation day

My friend and I were crossing at a Zebra crossing the other day and we always wave to say thank you to the drivers who stop to let us pass, even though they have to stop anyway.

When we waved at one woman who stopped for us, she just started smiling at us and didn't stop even as she drove away. It hadn't been the best day and it was pouring rain, but that really made my day.

I went on GMH the other day and it's wonderful

I've got one that I'm going to try and post on the actual website if I can.

I was on a trip from the UK to America and one night I was feeling really down. I was upset and crying alone outside of a restaurant whilst I was waiting for some friends. A woman I've never met before saw me through the window of the restaurant, and came outside especially to ask me if I was okay. She left her family and her meal to give me, a stranger, the biggest hug ever and to make sure I was alright. People like her GMH.

I just had to post that that little story bought a tear to my eye. Why don't we have people like that where I come from?

Unfortunately I don't have anything to add to this, but I'd just like to say that I was shown this site earlier today, and it definately made my day.

I'll be showing it to everyone hahaha

A friend of mine bought all of his friends a rose. He also randomly baked everyone a cake(Just for the record, it was one of the most delicious cakes I have ever eaten).

My aunt has arthritis and uses a wheelchair most of the time. Her wheelchair was being problematic and a stranger walking by offered to fix it for her.

There's a boy at my school who has autism and is in a special program. He won an award and our whole school gave him a standing ovation.

This thread GMH.

One of my GMHs for the summer is:

Every day at swim practice, a seven-year-old girl, Anna, swims with the younger age group. Each day, her mother gets in the pool with her to push her as hard as she can be pushed. When Anna swam her first race, our whole team was on the side of the pool, encouraging her to finish the lap. She's had autism since birth and finished in the top five of her age group. Anna's perseverance and her mother's love GMH.

Aw, Katrina, that made of smile so much. xD Last year, a 13 year old boy from my school, John-Daniel, went missing on a Friday night, walking home from the cinema. The next day, over 120 students from my school turned up in the search for him. People giving up their weekend to look for someone they don't even know, GMH. He was found on the Sunday, by the way. I don't really know the whole story, but he was alive and well at least.
