Some people mass producing kids and then failing to pay any money towards their upbringing. Then the "single parent" (usually the mum) is in fact forced into claiming benefits to support such kids. Some parents even have kids purely just to claim benefits. It costs something like £200,000 to raise a kid nowadays... and I think A LOT of benefits money disappears down that plughole. It doesn't benefit anyone but the meathead who refuses to give money towards their kid(s)
Guess what? There's a new solution for jerkbags like that.

Finally,! It's about time men have some control of birth control other than condoms. Now countdown to 2015 when it's available worldwide.

I hope this is real. I haven't done any research, and I think Ben doesn't say anything without any credible evidence so I'm just going to assume that it's real right now. In which case...that's awesome. I hate condoms. I never put them on right. Even with a condom on, I still feel weird ejaculating inside a vagina. Maybe one day I'll be able to buy birth control and properly use it and not worry about banging my beautiful girlfriend against the kitchen sink without putting a condom on.

This sounds amazing! And promising. Hopefully people remember to still use barriers for STI protection, though.

Re: Indian scientists have developed a reversible and injectable method of birth control for men that’s been 100% effective in trials - May 2nd 2012, 07:09 AM

I looked around and RISUG is definitely real, although there are three issues. First, the sample size of willing participants is very small. For example, one of the studies had only 12 men given RISUG. I don't know if this issue is due to Indian culture, men being fearful or not enough media press to get men interested but I'm sure it'll be resolved. Second, the gel blocks some sperm and alters morphology of others so they cannot fertilize, even if they get through the gel, which is fantastic. Unfortunately, there was tremendous variation in how long it took for fertility to drop. For example, it ranged from 5 days to 243 days. Last, phase III studies again used the same 12 subjects, which is good because it maintains consistency and allows for comparison but still suffers from a very small sample size. Phase II studies revealed RISUG wasn't as reversible as previously thought because infertility remained despite removal due to changes in pH and electric charge.

For those not well-versed in biochemistry, all of the studies as well as removal of the gel involves dimethyl sulfide (DMSO). It's a biodegradable substance that acts as a saline or oil vesicle for transporting a molecule.

Below are links to different papers for more information:

General information not including phase III results (2008)
Smart RISUG with phase III results (2009)
Physiological general information (2011)

The future is now.

OMFG!You'reACtuallySmart!: I don't think that a lot of guys would be running to get some mysterious new method of birth control injected into their arm without knowing any of the possible side effects. However as they go into further testing, more and more people will jump on the bandwagon.

Edit: The soruce never mentioned arm, I don't know where I pulled that from.

Load it, check it, quick, rewrite it"

^Sorry dude, it's not injected into your arm.

I'm really hopeful about this, as I'm not interested in hormonal birth control, condoms are a pain (and expensive) and I'd rather not go the IUD route as of yet... in a longer term committed relationship this would be fantastic.

Researchers achieve this feature by injecting a polymer (a gel) into the vas deferens, rather than cutting the vas (as is done in vasectomy)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vas_deferens
The vas deferens (plural: vasa deferentia), also called ductus deferens, (Latin: "carrying-away vessel"; plural: ductus deferentes), is part of the male anatomy of many vertebrates; they transport sperm from the epididymis in anticipation of ejaculation.

I'm not a male but that does sound painful....

I don't know what's more offensive, the "graphic" pictures or that I told someone to "man up" cause we know people love to twist those words around haha.

What you said was definitely considered... I loled as well and decided I didn't care

I actually read about this a couple of months ago. I think its wonderful, not to mention cheaper and more convenient than a woman being on any form of birth control OR buying condoms. However, that means men do not have an excuse not to use it anymore. It's not permanent and lasts all of two seconds.

As for the boys who whine that they don't want a small needle near their penis for all of two seconds, try having sharp, pointy, cold and uncomfortable objects INSIDE of your genitals. THEN tell me how bad it is to have an instantaneous shot that isn't even on your genitals.
