Are you sure Bill was wrong? When i worked it out I got £192 as well lol
The way you do it is
£240 X 0.80
because to get the whole thing you times it by 1 but you want 20 percent less so if you take 20 off 1 you get 0.80... the thing is though £240 X 0.80 is £192

Well if she earns 20% more than last year that means its a 120% at the moment.
her loan last year was a 100% therefore 200 dollars
do you understand what i mean?
edit: I mean pounds, sorry

How can you be sure that bill is wrong? By the way you shouldnt have marked this post as triggering because it isnt.
EDIT: On second thoughts, £200 is right... because yeah she is currently earning 120%. So you divide £240 by 120 to get 1% which is 2. You then multiply 2 by 100 to get the full amount which is 200.

Thanks Jen
and dom i can assure you its right.
You take last years salary as a basis, thats a 100%
now he gets 20% more so now he earns 120% which is 240 pounds
therefore 100% is 200 pounds

Well there is an easier way than i do it but i divided 120 through 100 and got 1.2
and then i divided 240 through 1.2 and got 200
basically 120% equals 240 pounds, but you need 100%, so you need to look what factor you candivide 120 with to get 100 and use that factor to get from 240 to the number you need. at school i write it like this
120% = 240
100% = x and then do the calculations
sounds a bit complicated, theres an easier way though
you calculate this 240:120*100
