Celebrities we lost in 2016 - December 29th 2016, 03:00 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of death or grieving, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

Since there have been so many celebrity deaths this year, I figured I would make one thread, at the end in memory of all of them. From Mrs. Brady, to Alan Thicke, and Princess Leia, and today, her mother Debbie Reynolds, Prince, David Bowie, and George Michael, the list goes on. This has to be a record breaking number. May they all rest in Peace.

I can't even find a complete list there are so many

Side note: I moved this as I felt it might be better suited in this section. Discussed this move with a PA to make sure it should be moved.

I agree Katie. There have been way too many deaths this year. It is honestly terrifying. What is going on in this world?

I think this might be a full list of the names of Celebs who have died.

I think it's a combination of the baby boomers getting older, it makes sense that they were all born at the same time, they all start dying at the same time. And those with histories of drugs/alcohol use getting the long term effects from using decades ago. Plus the few completely shocking ones like we get every year. Either that or it's a sign of the apocalypse, the way the rest of the year has been, that honestly wouldn't surprise me.

yeah but georgie micheal was young. i think its just been an incredibly bad year like 2016 is taking as many as it possibly can. i was gutted about richard adams dying - the man who wrote watership down. some of the celebrities were old but i would not call all of them old at 53 is young....

I think quite a few of those celebrities were on the older end of the Baby Boomer Era. We, as Millennials, have grown up considering people born in the late 1940s and early 1950s--whether they’re our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins removed, or a mentor--to be invincible and not getting sick; we see them as living forever because who wants to think about anyone getting ill and dying? Older Baby Boomers have been so successful in their schooling and careers, unlike their parents who grew up during WWI or the Great Depression. They were not able to get a college degree immediately and had to wait a few years for a proper career

Some of these celebrities were also in their 80s and 90s, and that’s pushing it even by today’s life expectancy and standard of living. Every day, I worry about my Gramp falling over and never being able to stand on his two feet again. He will be 91 in February, and my Nan, who is 84, is faring well but at that age, death can come unexpectedly. We can never be prepared, whether they’re 58 or 85. Either way, it’s still an unexpected shock.

I think the death that has the most profound impact on me was Alan Rickman. I remember a few years ago, literally in this decade, I had a huge crush on him. I was surprised to find out he was in his early 60s, he looked about 45 or 50. That’s probably another shock factor, they look so young these days, when they’re really two decades older.

Even today’s young celebrities, they don’t look old enough to drink in my country but they’re well into their 20s
