Are you a 'liberal'? - February 7th 2017, 06:17 PM

Hello!

I hope you're OK.

What's been going in the U.S. insofar as the liberal party is concerned has been very frustrating to witness. Many liberals have betrayed the whole idea of what it means to be a liberal. These people refer to themselves as 'progressives'. And they have proven themselves to be VERY aggressive. If I could encourage you - and them - to be anything - I would say, "Be a 'classical liberal'." [And this is coming from someone who is glad Trump won]

Watch this and tell me what you think.

GREAT BIG HUG
Craig!

Re: Are you a 'liberal'? - February 7th 2017, 09:31 PM

I used to think I was a "progressive", but I was like 14-16 back then, when I thought feminism is good (It was good, but now it's overstaying it's welcome where Mens Rights groups should also be held to the same importance, or even better, egalitarianism without the anti-male or anti-female biases, because a black Muslim lesbian woman is no less of a human than a white, straight Christian male)

The progressives today are much more authoritarian than real liberals by trying to force a complete reversal of the 50's (Not meaning racial unity, but anti-white racism and misandry). The moderates were about to be redpilled sooner or later, regardless of means (I got redpilled by help of the Podesta e-mails, but things like the Berkeley riots also sway moderates to the right)

There's where I abolished the modern left. In the elections of my country (March 15th) I'm considering voting PVV (Far right, gets the same treatment of Trump on boards like 4chan but it's a bit harsh against Islam), VNL (Classical liberal) or FVD (Centre-right, but anti-EU party although it's leader is seen as the Dutch Trump). The classical liberals don't care what people's sexuality, race or gender is, they just see them as human, as individuals. That's how I see them too

Re: Are you a 'liberal'? - February 8th 2017, 01:31 AM

I'm not a classic liberal. Classic liberalism includes the idea of a laissez faire style economy. I'll never subscribe to that label, because despite all the Republican complaints about "too much regulation", we have a right-wing economy that shits on the poor and middle class, and thats why half our country makes under $30,000.
What's my point? That's all the top conservatives care about, a laissez faire style economy. It's not actually about political correctness, its about funneling our money to them by voting for people who slam political correctness while they rig the economy, like Trump. And what nobody ever talks about is the fact that the Right in America has their own political correctness. If you even so much as abstain from supporting Israel (Obama's administration did at the end of his term), you're labeled as anti-semetic. If you talk about gun regulations after a school shooting, you're politicizing a tragedy. If you want to enact a liberal economic idea, you're labeled a communist. If you go against what the American military is doing in the Middle East, you're labeled as unpatriotic. If the left protests anything at all, they're labeled as whiny children. If you support gay marriage or abortion, you're anti-Christian. Welfare is socialism. Welfare recipients are leeches and "welfare queens". Raising the minimum wage is socialism and a job killer. Climate change is a scam. Taxes are theft. Obama's a socialist (even though in the 90s he would have fit economically with every Republican). There's right-wing PC everywhere, its just less obvious.
Prager U is just a scam to give them what they care about, and that's money. Not just through donations. They want you to vote for idiots who campaign on specific social issues but will lower our unsustainably low taxes and cut necessary regulation. Not to mention, they asked for donations even though their site is funded by millionaires.
Despite everything, Dave Rubin WAS spot-on on most everything he talked about. Yeah, political correctness is an issue. Nobody should be banned from speaking at college campuses, for example. But I'm really pissed that he went on PragerU. Thats a sellout move. He could've said all of that on his own channel (which he does), but he accidentally just campaigned for economic conservatives. But maybe he did that on purpose, because he did endorse Gary Johnson for president.
I'd say I identify pretty strongly with the social side of classic liberalism, but I'll never vote for a Republican just because they say they're "pro-free speech". Its a scam, just like the entire Republican Party. Instead, I'll vote for a Justice Democrat (pardon the lame name, but its a movement started by Cenk Uyger of The Young Turks and Kyle Kalinski of Secular Talk) and vote for someone who not only agrees with common-sense economics, but also IS for free speech. Free-er speech is part of the platform.

This would've been more appropriate for the Milo thread, but I'll end with this quote. "So perhaps what’s needed now is a bolder form of censure after all, because the internet is not a universal human right. If people cannot be trusted to treat one another with respect, dignity and consideration, perhaps they deserve to have their online freedoms curtailed. For sure, the best we could ever hope for is a smattering of unpopular show trials. But if the internet, ubiquitous as it now is, proves too dangerous in the hands of the psychologically fragile, perhaps access to it ought to be restricted. We ban drunks from driving because they’re a danger to others. Isn’t it time we did the same to trolls?" -Milo Yiannopoulos, free speech warrior, professional provocateur, troll, and hypocrite

Wish I lived in Canada. UPDATE, NOV. 9th, 2016: This statement has become even more appropriate.
I vow that I will attack this endeavor with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind. Jim Harbaugh
