UK Police. - March 23rd 2017, 07:51 AM

There has been a terrorist attack in London, where a man has driven a car into crowds on the Westminster Bridge, before going to parliament and stabbing a police officer. He was eventually shot dead. However, the police officer who was killed was completely unarmed.

I am serious. Can someone explain to me, the stupidity.

Personally, I think lawmakers have been negligent and naive by underresourcing the utility belts of police, and not trusting their police enough to give them arms. First the European Union, and now this. It appears that the UK government has lost common sense.

I have to agree. I think policemen need to have weapons simply due to the rise in global terror. We can't expect them to maintain peace and take down threats with their hands, specially if the other guy has a gun or a knife.
At the same time, giving unlimited access leads to the issue like in the US where civillians are shot for no reason (no offence Americans, if I'm wrong please correct me).

The police should've been armed to defend against the terrorist. But nowadays left politicians want to cuck the police and open the borders for every refugee, regardless if he's a legitimate war refugee, economic refugee or ISIS insider/terrorist and no regard if the person upholds the countries law and respects it's culture. The system with immigration is broken too. (Although the probable suspect wasn't a refugee, it needs to reform/make laws to retain own culture). To go back on-topic, the government should lighten some rules up for police to ensure security

I disagree with your opinion on Brexit though, I think pulling out was a good decision, but it won't get through people in the EU until the worst has happened in there. But that's another discussion for another time

If more police had guns then more criminals would have guns. British policing works fine without them all carrying guns but there are armed police where there needs to be armed police.
It is unlikely that even if the policeman who was killed was armed the outcome would be any different.

One terrorist attack isn't enough in my opinion to completely change a policy that isn't necessarily broken. Only five people died. I might sound like a callous asshole, but I've also seen enough problems in America with trigger-happy cops.
Also, the terrorist was born in Kent, he wasn't a refugee. He also had a long criminal history, so maybe the better approach would have been to keep him in jail. I don't know what else he did though.
