Amy Bleuel - April 1st 2017, 12:41 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of death or grieving, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

Not really looking to debate but it is a news article and wanted to share with you all.

For a community like TH, I'm sure you've heard of the Semicolon Project at some point. Maybe you even got a tattoo or drew a semicolon on your arm using a sharpy to symbolize hope and that your story isn't over yet.
The founder of the Semicolon Project, Amy Bleuel, died yesterday through suicide.
I am really heartbroken to learn this. It shows that a person can do so much for this world and yet be carrying such heavy baggage of their own. It shows, at least to me, how as much as she was someone who saved lives, she was also a peer-someone with her own mental illness and vulnerabilities as a human being.

I found This article roaming around social media from The Mighty. It talks about how there's still hope, even when someone who worked so much for suicide prevention is then lost through suicide. It is a good read for anyone having a hard time.

I didn't know her personally but I've been familiar with her work and I am really sad this happened and am thinking of her loved ones.

I didn't take part in the project, but I admired it a lot and was saddened to hear the news. I also read that article you linked and think it's a good read.

It's so sad. It just goes to show that we are all human, and we struggle with things even if we are the ones helping and inspiring others.

It's awful what happened to this woman, she did so much for those struggling with depression. I never partook in the Semicolon Project, but I have heard of it through TeenHelp. Thinking of her loved ones during this difficult time.

I've heard of The Semicolon Project.

I'm saddened to hear that Amy has taken her own life.

Thinking of her and her family.
