Russian Hunger Games - April 5th 2017, 01:47 PM

This thread has been labeled as non-PG13 by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for younger users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

Supposedly a real-life hunger games called Game2:Winter is going to take place someplace on a Siberian island this summer. Yes, that means the fight for survival no matter the means and all of the contestants had to sign waivers in case they were injured or killed during the game. What do you all think of this? I mean it's a crazy idea given that death or injury is a possibility..I could certainly never do it. Do you guys agree or disagree on the game? Again, not really sure where I stand on this. It's not my country, not my game so maybe I shouldn't bother worrying. Should this be allowed to happen? They did sign waivers so the producers can't be held accountable so it's really all on the contestants whether they get hurt or killed.

That is... incredibly badass. But they know what they're getting into. All the same, they should have emergency personnel nearby, there's no reason to let people die for the sake of money or TV ratings.

Also, not to mention, that it would be banned on television since there's portrayal of actual death(s). What's even the point of making a film of it if it's going to end up banned?

I remember once my uncle (biological aunt's husband) got a illegal copy of the Wizard of Oz, which showed a little person... well, he died in the snuff clip. Which is why that copy of the Wizard of Oz was banned and that bit was censored.

Even if waivers were signed, can't the person who attacked/killed someone be charged for manslaughter? And I mean, honestly, this is barbaric. Lets be honest, to replicate a movie, you are risking lives? For what? TV ratings?
This just sounds disgusting to me

Re: Russian Hunger Games - April 6th 2017, 09:49 AM

This seems like such a bad idea and honestly I have no idea why people would want to be involved in this. Even the producers have said they won't step in if something goes wrong, and someone even mentioned criminals being released from a nearby prison and the aim is to catch them. What for? Seriously what is the point? This whole show is going to be so stupid and so many people are going to watch it.

The show won't be aired on TV, it'll be shown online so technically it can't be banned that way.

Re: Russian Hunger Games - April 7th 2017, 02:59 AM

This is horrifying and plain sad. Firstly, the point of the series was to show how having the Hunger Games was a BAD idea. Remember Roo? Those movies changed my life, I get really emotional about it.
Secondly, Katniss was saving her sister by volunteering. The point wasn't for it to be voluntary. The point was that these people were miserable but felt helpless and afraid.
Thirdly, do these people volunteering for this go through a psychological background check? Even more so the ones who are making this happen should be questioned. And the people who would watch it.
