sexuality; x-factor - October 26th 2009, 11:50 PM

I was reading star magazine today, and ive also seen in some others, that Danyl Johnson has had a lot wrote about him being bi-sexual.
I dont get it. Why is it so big?
No magazines have articles about all the other contestents being straight.
Its ridiculous.

ANy other thoughts?

Unfortunately, until being of a different sexuality or gender identity is widely culturally accepted, some people will obsess over that one aspect of a person, and the label is all they will see.

There's also the fact that a lot of people still see homosexuality as a taboo topic, and of course taboos make the juiciest news.

Of course sexuality is only a very small part of a person, and if there were true equality, no one would give it a second thought. We still have a long way to go to get there.

he's an arrogant, annoying, cocky, average singer whose performances are cringe-worthy.

but getting to the point.. yes, i do think the magazines are right to cover the story. it'll sell magazines.. so why not? people are interested in peoples sexuality.. especially if they're in the public eye. if he didn't want his private life paraded in front of the whole world then he shouldn't have signed up for x-factor.

and no i don't think it's unfair.. afterall sexuality hasn't exactly been an issue when it comes to people who have been successful on these sort of shows. look at will young for example.. it got plastered over all the papers that he was gay and he won.

but anyway.. why is it a big deal? i suppose because some people are still shocked by bisexuality.. and some people are just nosey.

At the end of the day, being in the public eye means you're going to get articles printed about you whether you like it or not and whilst the topic of sexuality is very personal - the fact that the media are talking about it is not surprising and Danyl should have known that's what the world of fame is all about so if he's getting all het up about it then i really don't know what he expects anyone to say. It is rather annoying that all people talk about is sexuality these days as if that makes or breaks a person but yeah, 'tis the media for you.

& it's just like she's in another world.

No, i understand like they're going to write about it to seel magazines etc, but i dont get why write about him being bi-sexual. Its no big deal, and i wouldn't be intrsted in buying a magazine, to read that he is bi-sexual.

You might not want to read it just because it has that story in but I bet a lot of people would buy it. It's not really a big deal but people want to know these things about people in the limelight.

yeah i agree.. i couldn't care less what sexuality he is, but for some reason a lot of people still find it shocking when people are bisexual. i guess anything that's a bit "different" to the stereotypical norm attracts attention.

I don't think it's anybody's business to be honest, but then again not something to be hidden. Either way I don't think it needs to be so in-your-face in the magazines etc.
