You can see the CCTV footage here http://www.kirotv.com/news/18833512/detail.html

Seems very excessive and completely unreasonable response.

That's absolutely ridiculous! No charges against him?

THROWING A SHOE IS NOT ASSAULT. That wasn't "prevent another assault" that was excessive force and an assault on the girl.
The shoe didn't hit him, if you look at the full screen footage you will see she moves her foot to take off the other one. If that's assault then walking past someone and being nudged as you walk down the street is assault. I would think the jury should be able to see this. It's bullshit, if she retaliated, she'd be the one charged.

I'd like to slam his head into the wall, it would be a better match up, maybe then he'd have grounds to call it assault. People like that really tick me off, as if you hadn't guessed.

It sounds like this officer has a history of using excessive force, as he shot a mentally ill person in the past. I absolutely agree that he should have had his badge taken away. Hurting that girl was entirely uncalled for and unnecessary.

This is entirely wrong. She did nothing to provoke such force. He definitely needs to lose his badge over this.

Re: Girl attacked by police officer - January 13th 2010, 06:35 PM

It does look like excessive force but I am going to say that that video does not show everything that went on that night. The girl could have been acting up and 'making threats' and when she kicked the shoe (and I think she kicked it at him (intentionally) I mean when someone takes a shoe off it does not shoot that far off a foot) he might have lost control because he might have been worried that she was going to do something more or he might have been fed up with her attitude and gone way overboard.

But, that is no excuse for the force he used. I think that he could have gone in and taken her to the floor (in a less intense manner).

As for killing the mentally ill man, we cannot use that to prove that he has a history. No one knows what happened there and the shooting might have been justifiied. The board believed it to be justified so we kind of have to go with it

actually he was fired ( claps hands) i wasnt aware he had killed someone in the past, what really pisses me off is that the officer who assualted the 15 year old said HE WAS DEFENDING HIMSELF oy, i am glad he was fired, i agree that the girls behavior was bad but she really didnt hurt him at all, i mean the officer threw a hissy fit over a stinkin shoe, oh well the officer lost his job, which i am glad that he did
