Caution disturbing..

A New Mexico man faces animal cruelty charges after authorities say he used a chainsaw to kill a pit bull while his two children watched.
Investigators say 32-year-old Teddy Sexton of Aztec was jailed Thursday.
San Juan County Sheriff's Lt. Dwayne Faverino says Sexton told investigators the 2-year-old dog bit his 9-year-old daughter Aug. 15. Sexton told authorities he felt the dog should be put down, so he grabbed a kitchen knife and tried to cut its throat.
When that failed, Sexton told deputies he used the chainsaw.
Officials became aware of the incident Wednesday when an investigator from the state Children, Youth and Families Department alerted deputies about children who were having nightmares and reported seeing the dog's head removed.

I don't understand why he just didnt give the dog to the pound instead.

how in the world can someone even think of doing that? I mean did the kid maybe do something to antagonize the dog?

What a monster he did it while his two children were watching. I hope he gets what he deserves in jail.

this is... wow what jerk would do this to a poor dog? and in front of innocent little children? i had disturbing images in my head while reading this myself. what can you do with killing a dog? your children watch, having nightmares, their thoughts are corrupted so early. pit bull suffers when it didn't have to at all, there were better solutions. and YOU go to jail? this makes no sense, the guy must have been sick or something. he deserved to go to jail, that's the only part of the news story i liked.

I'm confused as to why he even decided to slit the dog's throat in the first place but that aside, if using a knife fails, then why not report the dog? If the person wants to use a chainsaw, why do it infront of his kids? Only thing I can think of is stupidity. Hopefully, he will not be allowed to own or take care of a dog for some time if the courts realize this person takes chainsaws to live dogs regardless if others are present.

in all honesty my first thought was.. meh.. it's only a dog. way worse things happen all the time. yeah it wasn't a very humane way of killing the dog but animals are killed all the time. wouldn't object to him getting jail time but wouldn't really care if he didn't.

That is disturbing! Oh my gosh. What a way to kill an animal. Makes me sick, honestly. I hope he gets what he deserves.

This is bad in so many ways. Immediately trying to put the dog down, doing it in foolish ways, and then getting out a bloody chainsaw?! And then with his poor children watching! That is just the worst parenting, ever. He deserves to be locked up, and those children should be put with a family who cares!

People. These. Days. :/

Perhaps more mystifying than the fact that he killed the poor dog is that he did it in front of his children. How awful! Can you imagine being a young child and and watching your father mutilate a dog with a chainsaw? I highly doubt this is an occurrence they're going to forget any time soon. Besides, the fact he was in such a deranged mindset that the thought of taking a weapon to the animal even crossed his mind is horrifying. What's to stop him from doing that to a human?

Needless to say, he should have let authorities handle the situation.

Re: New Mexico man arrested in dog's chainsaw death - September 29th 2010, 09:30 PM

everyone has seemed to miss the fact that the dog bit the child. The report seems quite biased in the fact that it didn't mention how severely or unseverely the child was hurst. Considering the bias of the article I would assume the child was bitten quite badly, I would also assume that the father's first instict was to hurt the dog - he may have grabbed a knife from the table after he had beaten the dog away from the children and tried to stab it to death (slitting a dog's throat seems very unusual to me and almost certainly a very large untruth by the journalist). Failing in that, I would imagine that a chainsaw was at hand (for any number of reasons) and he grabbed that and either beat the dog to death with it or else actually took the effort to start it up in the hope that the noise would scare the dog and then perhaps he sliced it.

I would take a view somewhere along those lines - the dog had just hurt the child and in a frenzy of fear and blind hatred, as a parent feels when their children are in danger, he attacked the dog rather than any meditated idea or forcing the children to watch. The article reports it in a very biased way and there's much more of a story to it, I think.

I'll say it again, this man needs to be executed. Just thinking of the dogs last thoughts before being chainsawed by his master in front of his two best friends makes me want to cry.

see you've drawn things not written in the article that they want you to draw.

Why is are the children his best friends??? - THE DOG JUST BIT ONE OF THEM.

Two, is the man even the owner of the dog? Did he even know the dog?

There is a lot this article says and a lot it wants you to think and a huge amount it doesn't say.
