I think the driver did the right tihng. I mean, you have to think fast, and if someone was on the bus or nearby (as someone shooting the video obviously was), you have to take all of the conditions into consideration. I have no experience with large vehicles and hate driving in snowy/icy weather. If this was the safest thing, then so be it.

Who knows what those conditions were like for a bus...

Give the bus driver their job back. Seriously, folks.

This is stupid. If you listen to the people in the video, they wanted the car to hit the snowman, so to me it sounds like they put it there on purpose and they could have caused a serious wreck. The bus driver did what he thought was best, eliminating a hazard before returning to his sign of the road. It's stupid that he got fire for that.

The bus driver is not in the wrong here. He actually did a good thing.
If a regular car had hit that, the car seriously could have lost control. That snowman should NOT have been in the road in the first place.

The bus driver didn't kill any fun at all.

Also, if you watch the video, one of the guys says, "Aw come on!" when a car goes around the snowman.
Those boys should be ashamed of themselves. They cost an innocent person their job.

I know some people who've built a snowman in the middle of the road before. It's dangerous and the driver was totally right for removing the obstacle for other drivers.

Also, I love how the articles say "minutes before" referring to the car going around the snowman when it was really less than 30 seconds prior. Bit of a nitpick, but it just annoyed me :P

He's not killing any fun... a snowman in the middle of the road is very dangerous as it causes cars to swerve when the road is probably quite icy making it more dangerous. They obviously put it there to make someone drive into it.

Lol I read this yesterday. Epically stupid it made me laugh though.

Let's think though. The bus was the only vehicle that could get rid of it without taking damage. If a car hit it, the upper part of the snowman would likely fall through the windscreen and break it. Wouldn't kill anyone (unless they were over the speed limit), but it rly wouldn't be nice.

I think he did the right thing

"I don't care about politics"
Then politics doesn't care about you either. Truth. You've got to make your voice heard, if you want to be listened to. But that's too logical for some people, so let me go a step further. Not making your voice heard, leaves other people free to hijack it by speaking on your behalf, even if they don't actually give a shit about you. That's politics. So, make your voice heard. That's not a quote from anywhere. That's just me.

I agree that the snowman should not have been put there in the first place. It's just plain stupidity to think that's funny.

Argh it's so stupid the driver got sacked for this, the kids who put the snow man there were trying to cause trouble, they managed, so he gets blamed? What a great system :\

It beggars belief that the bus driver was forced to resign for taking out an obstruction which could have gone through a car's windscreen and cause someone serious harm or worse (seriously, snow is bloody heavy when compacted and car windscreens only take so much force). The students responsible should be ashamed of themselves, and if they think inducing someone to crash into something is amusing they should pay a trip to the local morgue or police station to see how unfunny it actually is...

The jokers who set that up should be charged with reckless endangerment, and I agree the driver of the bus should keep his job.
