Oh my goodness! Poor guy

I guess if they didn't have their badges and didn't identify themselves it might be a tiny bit understanding - taking in three strangers while a child was near.

BUT! I do not agree with it. I think it was very nice of the guy to offer to help. Officers or not.

I feel bad for this guy. The three people were POLICE OFFICERS, and he was only trying to rescue them and be a good man. I don't agree with the bus company's decision at all.

I'd be willing to wager that this guy's kindness will help him earn a new job fairly quickly, especially with the publicity. And on the flip side, the bus company makes itself look like a group of heartless douches.

Looks like the union helped him get his job back:

I'm glad this came to a happy ending.

What message are they trying to get across?
Don't help anyone and be a greedy person if you don't want to lose your job. Great message I'm glad he got his job back.

It's good he got his job back but I'm confused at the rationale the company gave. Picking up the police officers was an ethical and moral thing he did, however, the company has a point in that the officers did not pay the company for using a bus. But I don't see how that endangered the welfare of the student, after all, police are meant to protect citizens, so if anything they would be unlikely to cause harm to the driver or student.

However, complaining he drove through a large body of water is quite silly because it was a near-by monsoon. I could only guess that if he took a long detour or waited until the monsoon passed, the company may have complained that the child on board was very late, so it's a lose-lose situation for the driver.

Thank goodness that a bit of common sense kicked in for a change. You do wonder with these companies sometimes whether they look for the slightest reason to fire someone, particularly when the apparent "violation of company policy" makes absolutely no sense in the circumstances.

Anyway, good to hear that he has come out of this completely unblemished, as he should considering he saved three police officers' lives.

Honestly, I wouldn't have gone back to that company, although I do get their point. I think they would prefer to know during the incident, instead of after. It's a liability thing as well as a safety issue. If the bus had wrecked, the officers could have sued. Or they could not have been officers. I mean, there are several point of views to look at this from. That does not mean that I agree with the company, I just get where they are coming from.
